  • Patent number: 5873216
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for assembling together tags (6), thread (8) and a web of envelope material for producing tagged packets. The tags are held on spaced seats on the periphery of a rotary carrier (2) and the thread is laid over the carrier and the tags. It is formed into a convoluted shape on the peripheral surface of the carrier between the tags by laterally displaceable holding pins (12) or by being dispensed onto the carrier by a displaceable guide (50). The web is brought against the tags and thread and attached to them maintaining the convoluted pattern of the thread. The assembly of web, thread and tags is suitable for a subsequent form-filling operation to complete the packets.

  • Patent number: 5690989
Abstract: One or more portions of whole muscle meat are injected with a suitable liquid afforded by an emulsion of butter oil and water, conveniently also containing flavoring materials and/or flavor enhancing materials. The portion or portions are placed in a tray and conformed generally to a desired final shape by the use of a low pressure, and are frozen to a temperature of minus 18.degree. C. into a condition in which the meat is mechanically rigid. The body of meat is pressed under high pressure into the final shape to produce a block of meat of substantially uniform cross-section. The block may be sliced to provide steaks of uniform thickness, uniform cross-section and uniform density, and may conveniently be vacuum sealed prior to cooking.

  • Patent number: 4615241
Abstract: A power driven bottle opener for removing the twist-off caps from the top of a bottle includes a housing containing an electric motor and a limit switch for starting and stopping the motor. An inverted cup-shaped head is rotated by said motor and includes ribs on its interior cylindrical wall which engage the cap for twisting the same. A cap ejector pin extends at least partially vertically through the housing and into the head and can be manually pushed downwardly from the front of the housing to eject a cap which may become lodged in the removing head. The pin also carries a radial projection which activates the limit switch and therefore the motor when the pin is moved upwardly by a bottle and cap inserted into the cap removing head.

  • Patent number: 4291602
Abstract: A guide bar is detachably clamped to the panel being cut with a pair of guide plates extending therefrom and registering upon the line to be cut. The guide bar is provided with a longitudinally extending slot or groove into which is engageable a guide block for longitudinal movement therealong. A power saw is detachably securable to the guide block which guides the saw blade along the line to be cut. The guide bar includes an underside clamp and spacer bar which spaces the panel above the supporting surface sufficient to give clearance to the underside of the saw blade as the panel is being cut.
