Abstract: Foil bags are used as a primary packaging for liquids, the bags permitting the liquid to be taken therefrom without the application of a considerable amount of force. A container is provided for a medicinal liquid, the container being gas-tight and liquid-tight so that it is storable over many months. The container includes a collapsible foil bag on which a flange, which is stable in respect of shape, is disposed. The flange is designed for fitting onto a discharge connection member. The container can be disposed in a casing which is stable in respect of shape. The medicinal liquid does not come into contact with air and is protected from the effect of light. The medicinal liquid may be dispensed from the foil bag in many partial quantities over a prolonged period of time, with a respective partial amount thereof being converted into an aerosol by means of an atomizer.

Abstract: For the withdrawal of a liquid from a closed container which is in a fluctuating position in space in a portable piece of equipment, precautions are to be taken so that the liquid can be withdrawn as completely as possible and in a trouble-free manner. A closed container is provided with an open-pore porous storage medium which is in the form of an integral body. It preferably fills only a part of the container, it is disposed at least in the region of the end of the withdrawal connection portion, and it touches the liquid at least at times. The storage medium serves as a pre-storage means for the liquid and as a bubble barrier. It constantly holds a certain amount of the liquid in the proximity of the end of the withdrawal connection portion, even if the end thereof is above the level of liquid in the container.

Abstract: For medical fluids, two-part containers are used which consist of an inner container and an outer container which is impenetrable to diffusion. The inner container collapses when the fluid is removed. For the purposes of pressure compensation between the gaseous space, disposed between the inner- and outer containers, and the surroundings of the two-part container, a pressure compensation device is required by means of which at the same time the loss of fluid through diffusion from the collapsible inner container is kept as little as possible. To that end, at least one channel is used which communicates the gas-filled intermediate space with the surroundings of the two-part container. The time constant for compensation of a pressure differential of a few millibars is within the region of quite a few hours. It is obtained by selecting the length of the channel and channel cross-section.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning the outside of a container to remove any adhering liquid, particularly in the region of a fill opening thereof. Adhering liquid is blown off of the container by mean of compressed air.

Abstract: The invention relates to a propellant-free inhalation device with a supply of pulverized medical substance in a supply chamber, which has a rotatable dosing means with one or more dosing chambers to receive in one defined position the dose of the medical substance to be inhaled from the supply chamber and to discharge the dose in another position. The inhalation device further is provided with a mouthpiece for active inhalation and an air channel to distribute the dose discharged from the dosing chamber in the flow of breathing air.

Abstract: An inhaler for the inhalation of powdered pharmaceutical compositions from capsules. The inhaler comprises a chamber for receiving the capsules, which chamber has a greater internal width and a greater length than the diameter and length, respectively, of the capsule and which chamber comprises at one narrow end an air inlet and at the other end an air outlet, so that during inhalation through the inhaler the capsule is set in vibration.

Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus for drawing off powder in metered quantities of from about 0.5 to 10 mg, comprising a tubular member having a dosing chamber at one end, the chamber having walls consisting of porous material and the outer end of the chamber walls being air-tight, and being provided at the other end with a means for connecting the tubular member to vacuum and/or compressed air sources. The invention is also directed to a method of using such an apparatus.
