  • Patent number: 4856610
Abstract: A system for controlling at least one variable influencing the drive torque of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, with an electronic throttle control, an electronic ignition timing control and a control device which becomes active when there is a tendency to spin of at least one driven wheel. The instantaneous engine speed is stored and the drive torque reduced to a certain value, assigned to the engine speed, and subsequently increased again, at a rate of rise dependent on the engine speed, when the tendency of spin of the driven wheel subsides. Consequently, major excess torque are avoided and greater traction and lateral control force is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4852009
Abstract: To counteract the tendency of over-steering when a vehicle operates in a curved path, and one of the wheels--typically the wheel at the inner side of the curve exhibits a tendency to block and, then, braking pressure is reduced to one of the front wheels only, the braking pressure applied to the rear wheel or wheels is reduced. If braking pessure is reduced to both of the front wheels, braking pressure being applied to the rear wheels is controlled, independently, in accordance with anti-brake lock control considerations, which have priority over dropping of braking pressure to prevent over-steering.

  • Patent number: 4850446
Abstract: In a system for controlling the propulsion on motor vehicles, by a reduction of the drive torque by an intervention in ignition, carburator or fuel injection and/or brakes, includes a first device which reduces the drive torque when the maximum adhesion coefficient is exceeded, and a second device which reduces the drive torque to a value associated with the measured maximum value of the vehicle acceleration when the monitored wheel variable exceeds the threshold value, as a result of which too great an excess of torque is prevented and sufficient traction and cornering stability are retained without unnecessarily slowing down a propulsion of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4846534
Abstract: In an antilocking braking system, a pressure modulator is provided for the control of pressure reduction and pressure build-up phases, wherein a drive pressure space of this modulator is placed under a pressure control to move a modulator piston into an end position associated with a minimum volume of a work chamber, which forms a section of the master brake line. In this end position, a spring-loaded inlet valve, connected between the work chamber of the pressure modulator and the brake booster of the brake system, is held in its open position by a tappet. As a result of pressure release in the drive pressure space, the modulator piston is displaced in the direction of its end position associated with a maximum volume of the work chamber, so that brake fluid can flow back into the work chamber from one or more wheel brakes connected to this work chamber.

  • Patent number: 4843819
Abstract: A brake booster has a first booster cylinder and a booster piston disposed in it for displacing a master cylinder piston to pressurize a brake circuit. A tappet displaces the first booster piston directly if boost fluid pressure is inadequate. A second booster piston in a parallel booster cylinder drives a pump piston which also pressurizes the brake circuit. The second booster piston and the pump piston have hydraulically effective surface areas which are matched to one another so as to have a larger boosting ratio than the first booster piston and master cylinder piston. Forward displacement of the second booster piston causes a bent arm to contact and push the first booster piston forward. If the boost pressure supply apparatus fails, then only the first booster piston and the master cylinder piston are displaced by the brake pedal; brake pedal travel increases considerably.

  • Patent number: 4840434
Abstract: The proposed vehicle brake system includes a brake fluid pressure device embodied as a brake booster, front wheel brakes rear wheel brakes and an anti-skid apparatus having valves for maintaining, reducing and increasing brake pressure. One of the brake pressure maintenance valves is associated with the rear wheel brakes and is further developed into a valve combination, which additionally includes a brake pressure regulating valve. The valve combination includes only one valve seat and one valve element, which serves both for keeping braking pressure constant in the anti-skid situation and to limit the rear wheel braking pressures during braking. The valve element is controlled on one side by a control piston acted upon by brake pressure and on the other by an electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 4841446
Abstract: The proper functioning of a control system (such as an ABS, ASR) that secures the adhesion of the wheels, by analyzing wheel rotating speed signals, is determined by comparing acceleration signals determined from the wheel rotating speed signals with accelerated signals measured by acceleration sensors on the vehicle. If they do not correspond within given limits during absence of control system control signal, the control system is disabled by an error signal and a warning indicator is activated.

  • Patent number: 4824185
Abstract: A hydraulic dual-circuit braking system comprising two main cylinders combined in twin-type construction which is actuated via a torque-equalized rocker operated by an actuating force proportional to brake pedal force, and wherein the main cylinders have position transmitters to detect piston positions, which are indirectly a measure of the brake pressure, and wherein an anti-blocking system enables the front wheel brakes to be blocked off from their main cylinders. The position signals are used by an electronic processing unit to determine the instantaneous front axle/rear axle braking force distribution, and compares this with a value which is ideal in accordance with the vehicle data, and when this comparison shows that the rear axle braking force component is too low, the front-wheel brakes are blocked off from their main cylinders until the rear axle braking force component is increased to such an extent that the ideal braking force distribution has been almost achieved.

  • Patent number: 4796717
Abstract: An installation for the forward drive regulation acting on the output torque of a drive aggregate in motor vehicles with a regulating circuit responding to the slippage of each driven wheel on which is superimposed a regulating circuit responding to exceeding an acceleration threshold value of each driven wheel which replaces the slippage regulating circuit designed for optimum traction from the regulation beginning for a predetermined duration and as a result thereof rapidly stabilizes the vehicle because only a small excess torque which can be controlled in few regulating cycles, can occur owing to the early regulation beginning.

  • Patent number: 4792287
Abstract: An axial piston pump for pumping a medium such as a viscous liquid in which a wobble element is set into rotating movement via a piston, the wobble element moving at least one feed piston in a piston bore. The piston bore is intended to communicate, via a transverse line and a further piston bore which is occupied by a control piston, with an intake line for the medium to be pumped. By means of this axial piston pump, which is valve-controlled on the compression side and slide-controlled on the intake side, liquid having a high viscosity can be pumped without a loss of efficiency, and any noise produced by the pump can be reduced. These latter advantages are reinforced still further provided the feed system is received in a pump insert that is supported with respect to a pump housing by means of elastic bearing elements.

  • Patent number: 4785904
Abstract: An installation for the propulsion regulation in motor vehicles acting on the output torque of the driving aggregate for preventing the undesired slippage of the driven vehicle wheels, whereby in case of determining the slippage tendency of a driven wheel, the magnitude determining the output torque is stored and subsequently reduced to its minimum value, is increased after the termination of the acceleration phase of this wheel to a value coordinated to the maximum value of the wheel acceleration which had occurred, is kept constant at this value, and in case of a determination of the ending of the slippage tendency, is increased by a further value coordinated to the maximum value of the wheel deceleration that had occurred whereby the delayed reaction of the drive aggregate is counteracted and a more rapid regulation with slight excess torque and fewer regulating cycles is attained.
