  • Patent number: 5391530
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of a catalyst for the removal of nitrogen oxides from waste gases, in which the end of the catalyst on the gas-inlet side is coated with a compound selected from the group consisting of biphosphates, condensed phosphates, silicates, borates and mixtures thereof, and is subjected to thermal aftertreatment, where the end of the green element on the gas-inlet side is immersed into an aqueous preparation comprising biphosphates and/or condensed phosphates and/or silicates and/or borates, and the green element is subsequently calcined at temperatures of from 300.degree. to 700.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5120690
Abstract: For a complete utilization of used DeNOx catalysts contaminated with fly ash, the catalyst is crushed to a particle size of usually less than 500 microns, admixed with the ash of a molten ash firing chamber of a coal power plant at weight ratio of usually at least 9 parts molten ash to 1 part catalyst where the catalyst is dissolved in the molten ash at a temperature generally above 1460.degree. C. The resulting molten ash chamber granulated material can be utilized in the usual way, for example in the construction industry, since no pollutants, especially no compounds of tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium and arsenic are eluted into the environment.

  • Patent number: 4889382
Abstract: A rear engine hood and a spoiler arrangement for the rear area of a vehicle body is disclosed. The spoiler arrangement is movable from an inoperative position flush with the body contours into an operative position to serve as a spoiler. A fan is assigned to the rear engine for taking in cooling air via air inlet openings of the spoiler arrangement, which cooling air acts upon a radiator mounted below the spoiler arrangement. In its operative position, the spoiler arrangement extends at a distance to the body, whereby, between the spoiler arrangement and the body, a rear transversely extending gap area and lateral gap areas are formed. These gap areas are covered by cover elements, achieving not only a targeted admission of cooling air to the radiator but also ensuring that undesirable exhaust gases or dirt particles are kept away from the fan.

  • Patent number: 4772060
Abstract: A motor vehicle, particularly a passenger car, having an aerodynamically developed underside extending adjacent to the road has wheel houses for the front and rear wheels. In order to, with a good drag coefficient, generate an output that improves the driving behavior of the motor vehicle, inlet ducts are provided at the underside of the motor vehicle, seen in driving direction, in front of the wheel houses of the front and/or rear wheel. The inlet ducts extending upwardly and being open in downward direction and extending at the wheel houses between the wheels. An upper peripheral surface of the inlet ducts is formed by convexly extending shaped sections that lead into the wheel houses.

  • Patent number: 4723594
Abstract: A radiator arrangement for a motor vehicle has air inlet openings in the front of the arrangement and lateral air discharge openings. The arrangement is composed of an air guiding housing which has two separated spaces for receiving the water radiator and the oil radiator respectively. Separate air inlet ducts are provided for the spaces and a combined air guiding duct combines the air flows downstream of the radiators. The air is then discharged through lateral discharge openings in the side walls of the vehicle located ahead of the front wheels.

  • Patent number: 4690204
Abstract: An air supply channel for a charging air intercooler of an exhaust gas turbocharger of an internal combustion engine arranged in the rear of a vehicle, in which the air supply channel is arranged within the fender area of the vehicle and includes an air inlet and an air discharge opening; the channel includes a tubular element which is constructed trumpet-shaped and is retained in the wheel casing above the rear wheel; at its air inlet side, the channel is connected with an inlet connection fixed at the body by way of a connecting sleeve and at its air discharge side with the charging air intercooler.

  • Patent number: 4688840
Abstract: An aerodynamic arrangement is arranged in the rear area of the rear end of a passenger motor vehicle which is composed of a guide element provided at the top side of the rear end and of a wing disposed thereabove, whereby the resulting nozzle-shaped gap has an inlet opening which is located in a vertically extending plane. A rear separating edge of the guide element is arranged at approximately one-third to one-half the length of the wing. An aerodynamic arrangement is created at the rear end of a passenger motor vehicle by this construction which with low structural height assures a good visibility toward the rear and by means of which, in addition to a reduction of the air drag coefficient, an effective negative lift at the rear axle is achieved at the same time.

  • Patent number: 4673206
Abstract: For improving the air drag coefficient of a motor vehicle, discharge openings for a first air stream are provided in a cover part of the vehicle underside directly in front of and exclusively within the area of the wheels; the first air stream is conducted through an air guidance device arranged on the body side whereby a device for reducing the flow velocity of the first air stream is provided inside of the air guidance device. The first air stream has a smaller kinetic energy within the area of the discharge opening than the second air stream which flows through the space between the vehicle underside and the road surface.
