Abstract: A video coding mechanism is disclosed. The mechanism includes partitioning a first picture into a plurality of tiles. A group of the tiles is assigned into a first tile group. The first tile group is a rectangular shape that wraps around the first picture in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction. The first tile group is encoded into a bitstream. A flag is encoded into a parameter set in the bitstream to indicate the first tile group is an arbitrary tile group. The bitstream is stored for communication toward a decoder.

Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for processing 360-degree video data. For example, a picture of the 360-degree video data can be obtained. The picture can include samples projected from a three-dimensional format to a two-dimensional format. A weight value can be determined for at least one sample of the picture. The weight value can be determined based at least on a position of the at least one sample in the picture. At least one adaptive parameter can be determined for the at least one sample using the determined weight value. The at least one adaptive parameter can include one or more of an adaptive weighted distortion, an adaptive weighted quantization parameter value, or an adaptive weighted lambda value. A cost associated with coding the at least one sample using one or more coding modes can be determined using the at least one adaptive parameter of the at least one sample.

Abstract: A multimedia middleware apparatus using metadata, a control method and a storage medium are provided which can receive metadata in multimedia middleware provided in a terminal, easily add/delete/change a service, and effectively maintain and manage middleware components. When an open multimedia terminal processes multimedia contents, a multimedia middleware service structure for expressing information of a name, configuration, version and application programming interface (API) update is configured in the form of metadata. Lists of standard and non-standard services of multimedia middleware are then generated and managed.

Abstract: A security management method in multimedia middleware of a terminal that can download a multimedia service provided from an external entity. The security management method includes if there is an access request for a particular multimedia service, determining whether there is a corresponding multimedia service; if the access-requested multimedia service does not exist in middleware of the terminal, performing negotiation for secure session setup with the external entity; setting up a secure session to the external entity using a security parameter selected as a result of the negotiation; and receiving information for the download from the external entity through the secure session, and determining whether to execute the download.
