Abstract: This invention relates to new chemical compounds useful as drugs, as well as to pharmaceutical compositions containing the same. This application claims their hypocholesterolemic use.The new products are aromatic keto acid compounds with antiinflammatory as well as analgetic and hypocholesteremic acitvity and having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, halogen, phenyl, halophenyl, alkyl, phenoxy, or substituted phenoxy.R.sub.2 is hydrogen or alkoxy. R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may form a ring, for instance: phenyl or cyclohexyl. R.sub.3 is always other than hydrogen, being either methyl (CH.sub.3) or methylene.When R.sub.3 is CH.sub.3, a double bond is present between the A and B carbons. When R.sub.3 is a methylene connected by a double bond to the B carbon, there can be only a single bond between the A and B carbons. The remaining valences of the A carbon atom are satisfied by hydrogen atoms.R.sub.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a new process for the obtaining of dimethylaminoethyl acetylsalicylate and its salts.It is characterized by the fact that the synthesis of the acid chloride is effected in an aliphatic hydrocarbon in the presence of pyridine as catalyst; after condensation with the dimethylaminoethanol, the product obtained is recovered by crystallization in anhydrous medium.The products obtained can be used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Abstract: The present invention relates to new chemical products which are useful as hypolipemizing and hypocholesterolemizing agents.The new compounds are derivatives of phenoxy isobutyric acid of the general formula ##EQU1## wherein: A is a lower-alkylene bridge of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, either linear or branched,X is a halogen atom,R = h or lower-alkyl,The N of the pyridyl ring can be replaced by an N-oxide, or the compounds can be in the form of their pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salts.Pharmaceutical compositions containing these active principles are useful for hypolipemizing and hypocholesterolemizing purposes, e.g., in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and its consequences.

Abstract: 5-Bromo-N-(N.sup.1 -pyrrolidino-alkyl)-ortho-cresotamides having 2 to 5 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety and therapeutically acceptable salts thereof, compositions containing such compounds useful as antitussives, and a method of suppressing of a cough in a host by administering an effective amount of such a compound with a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. 5-Bromo-ortho-cresotamide may also be named 5-bromo-2-hydroxy-3-methyl-benzamide.

Abstract: 5-Bromo-ortho-cresotamide and N--C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 --alkyl-5-bromo-ortho-cresotamides are useful for the potentiation of aspirin. 5-Bromo-ortho-cresotamide may also be named 5-Bromo-2-hydroxy-3-methyl-benzamide.
