  • Patent number: 11968547
Abstract: A base station or other network node configures a network transmission in dependence on a directional scanning reception ability of a wireless communication device targeted by the transmission. An example transmission configuration is selecting or restricting which Transmission/Reception Point to use for the transmission or selecting or restricting the beamforming configuration to use for the transmission. The device complements operations in the wireless communication network by indicating its directional scanning reception ability in initial signaling, such as used for random access, or in Radio Resource Control signaling, or both.

  • Patent number: 11937308
Abstract: A contending radio node is configured for attempting contention-based random access. The contending radio node obtains a timing advance sequence that is susceptible to contention. The contending radio node transmits, using the same transmission advancement timing, the timing advance sequence and a contention-resolving identity to a recipient radio node. Responsive to that transmission, the contending radio node receives a response signal that indicates a contention-resolving identity and a timing advance. The contending radio node resolves any contention in its favor when the contention-resolving identity indicated by the response signal corresponds to the contention-resolving identity that the contending radio node transmitted. The contending radio node, responsive to resolving the contention in its favor, adjusts its transmission advancement timing according to the timing advance indicated by the response signal.

  • Patent number: 11930538
Abstract: Embodiments include methods, performed by a network node, for configuring a physical random-access channel (PRACH) of a cell in a time-division-duplexed (TDD) radio access network (RAN). The methods include determining an increase in a level of remote interference in the cell and, in response to determining the increase, selecting a first PRACH configuration from a first subset of available PRACH configurations. The first subset of available PRACH configurations can be more robust against remote interference than a second subset of the available PRACH configurations, and the first subset can be exclusive of the second subset. The methods also include transmitting, to one or more user equipment (UEs) first information indicating that the first PRACH configuration should be used for accessing the cell via the PRACH. Embodiments also include complementary methods performed by UEs, as well as network nodes and UEs configured to perform such methods.

  • Patent number: 11917687
Abstract: According to certain embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device comprises initiating a random access procedure in which the wireless device sends a Physical Random Access Channel, PRACH, preamble to a network node and applying a receiver configuration for receiving an access response. The receiver configuration is determined based at least in part on whether a many-to-one association exists between (a) a downlink signal that can be used for beam selection prior to initiating the random access procedure, and (b) PRACH preamble indices.

  • Patent number: 11895059
Abstract: A guard period for switching between uplink and downlink subframes is created by shortening a downlink subframe, i.e., by not transmitting during one or more symbol intervals at the end of the subframe. A grant message includes signaling indicating when a shortened subframe is being transmitted. An example method is implemented in a receiving node configured to receive data from a transmitting node in subframes having a predetermined number of symbol intervals. In an LTE system, this receiving node may be a UE, and the subframes are downlink subframes. This example method includes determining that a received subframe is to be shortened, relative to the predetermined number of symbol intervals and, in response to this determination, disregarding a last part of the received subframe by disregarding one or more symbols at the end of the received subframe when processing the received subframe.

  • Patent number: 11895646
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for mapping Synchronization Signal Blocks (SSBs) to transmit beam directions taking into account remote interference. In this regard, embodiments of a method performed by a base station in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a base station in a cellular communications network comprises determining a beam direction to SSB index mapping, taking into consideration remote interference. The method further comprises using the beam direction to SSB index mapping. Because the SSBs have corresponding Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) occasions, determining the beam direction to SSB index mapping taking into account remote interference improves PRACH preamble robustness.

  • Patent number: 11863329
Abstract: According to an aspect, a transmitting device determines, for each of a plurality of transmissions, whether user data to be transmitted within a time transmission interval, TTT, will be closest in time to a DMRS transmitted before the user data or after the user data. If before the user data, all HARQ ACK/NACK data for the transmission is mapped to the earliest in time SC-FDMA symbol carrying user data in the transmission, and to pre-DFT symbols closest in time to the DMRS transmitted before the user data. If after the user data, all HARQ ACK/NACK data for the transmission is mapped to the last in time SC-FDMA symbol carrying user data in the transmission, and to pre-DFT symbols closest in time to the DMRS transmitted after the user data. SC-FDMA signals are formed from user data and control information for the transmission, based on the mapping.
