  • Publication number: 20220386141
Abstract: A base station or other network node configures a network transmission in dependence on a directional scanning reception ability of a wireless communication device targeted by the transmission. An example transmission configuration is selecting or restricting which Transmission/Reception Point to use for the transmission or selecting or restricting the beamforming configuration to use for the transmission. The device complements operations in the wireless communication network by indicating its directional scanning reception ability in initial signaling, such as used for random access, or in Radio Resource Control signaling, or both.

  • Patent number: 11510249
Abstract: A random access procedure may be provided by a network node for use with a user equipment, UE, of a wireless communication system. A demodulation reference signal, DMRS, configuration may be selected from among a set of DMRS configurations based on obtained information. A DMRS transmission may be controlled during the random access procedure based on the selected DMRS configuration. The UE may receive an indication of the DMRS configuration from the network node, may select the DMRS configuration from among a set of DMRS configurations based on the received indication, and may control DMRS transmission during the random access procedure based on the selected DMRS configuration.

  • Patent number: 11464042
Abstract: A system and method of Random-Access Response, RAR, messaging when a base station employs narrow beamforming. Multiple RAR messages are successively transmitted from the base station to a User Equipment, UE, before any response to a RAR message is received from the UE. Thus, despite any calibration mismatch between Uplink, UL, and Downlink, DL, beams in the beamformed system, a RAR message is not only received by the UE, but is received over the most-suitable DL beam for that UE. Each RAR message may contain a message-specific scheduling-delay indicator in the UL grant carried in the RAR message to provide an adjustable time delay for the UE's uplink transmission scheduled by the UL grant. Multiple RAR transmissions can schedule a single UL transmission at a specific time instance or different UL transmissions at different time intervals. The UE may report to the base station the best DL RAR transmission detected by the UE.

  • Patent number: 11418972
Abstract: A wireless communication device transmits beam sweeping information that indicates a beam sweeping property of the device, and a network node in an associated wireless communication network configures transmission or reception beamforming with respect to the device at one or more Transmission/Reception in the network, based on the beamforming property. Among the various advantages flowing from configuring network-side beamforming for the device in view of the beamforming property, the network need not configure its beamforming operations according to worst-case or minimum-capability assumptions for the device, and, instead tailors its transmission or reception beamforming in dependence on the beamforming property of the device.
