  • Publication number: 20190176970
Abstract: An aircraft is disclosed having a structure at least part of which is capable of generating aerodynamic lift. A body having a mass is movably mounted to a portion of the structure by an active support. The active support includes an actuator to move the body relative to the portion of the structure, and a controller for controlling movement of the actuator in response to a dynamic input. The active support provides a range of movement for the body in at least one degree of freedom. The actuator moves the body across the entire range of movement in that one degree of freedom in a time period of less than 3 seconds. The actuator moves the body sufficiently rapidly to generate an inertial force that is equal to or greater than any aerodynamic force generated by the body during that movement of the body. The active support may be used to reduce loads on the aircraft structure.

  • Patent number: 10321055
Abstract: A method of reducing the illumination power requirements for an object tracking system, the method including the steps of: (a) determining a current location of the object within a scene; (b) for a future frame: determining a band around the object of interest; determining a start and stop time for when the rolling shutter detector will be sampling the band; and illuminating the object only while the rolling shutter detector is sampling the band; (c) for a future frame predicting the location of the object relative to the tracking system; determining the ambient light levels; and illuminating the object with the minimum optical power required for the object to be imaged suitably for tracking.

  • Publication number: 20190164310
Abstract: Described herein is a method of registering a position and an orientation of one or more cameras in a camera imaging system. The method includes: receiving, from a depth imaging device, data indicative of a three dimensional image of the scene. The three dimensional image is calibrated with a reference frame relative to the scene. The reference frame includes a reference position and reference orientation. A three dimensional position of each of the cameras within the three dimensional image is determined relative to the reference frame. An orientation of each camera is determined to relative to the reference frame. The position and orientation of each camera is combined to determine a camera pose relative to the reference frame.

  • Publication number: 20190156100
Abstract: A method includes: capturing, from one or more imaging devices, a sequence of time separated images of the subject's face including one or both of the subject's eyes; processing the images to detect specular reflections present in the images, and determining a two dimensional position of any detected specular reflections; characterizing the detected specular reflections into corneal reflections and non-corneal reflections; upon detection of at least one corneal reflection, performing a first eye gaze tracking procedure based on the relative positions of the at least one corneal reflection and at least one reference eye feature; upon detection of no corneal reflections, performing a second eye gaze tracking procedure on one or both eyes of the subject based on the estimation of head pose of the subject; and outputting eye gaze vectors of one or both eyes from the first or second eye gaze tracking procedure.

  • Patent number: 10275425
Abstract: A method and system for dividing up large image files, for example, a subsurface wellbore log, into smaller files or slices for faster analysis and for faster transmission. The transmission and analysis can be performed over a network system for display to a user to perform data interpretation, such as geological interpretations. The side by side comparison can be individually controlled and analyzed as well as synchronized manually for comparison. The data from one or multiple different logs can be viewed side by side as smaller slices of the whole while being able to independently vary the view depth of the data from each wellbore by scrolling. Well tops, and other subsurface data, can be interpreted and shown in the well log image with associated depth registration.

  • Patent number: 10048002
Abstract: A cryogenic air separation method and apparatus in which first and second liquid streams are produced. The first liquid stream has a higher oxygen content than air and can consist of a higher pressure distillation column bottoms and the second liquid stream, for instance, air, has a lower oxygen content than the first liquid stream and an argon content no less than the air. The second liquid stream is subcooled through indirect heat exchange with the first liquid stream and both of such streams are introduced into the lower pressure column. The second liquid stream is introduced into the lower pressure column above that point at which the crude liquid oxygen column bottoms or any portion thereof is introduced into the lower pressure column to increase a liquid to vapor ratio below the introduction of the second liquid stream and therefore, reduce the oxygen present within the column overhead.

  • Publication number: 20170152056
Abstract: An aircraft fuel tank system including a fuel tank compartment for containing liquid fuel and having a float-activated valve arranged to become positively buoyant when immersed in liquid fuel so that the float moves up to a raised position which causes the valve to close and prevent liquid fuel from flowing out of the fuel tank compartment through the valve. The float is also arranged to move down to a lowered position in response to a level of the liquid fuel in the fuel tank compartment dropping, the movement of the float to the lowered position causing the valve to open and permit liquid fuel to flow out of the fuel tank compartment through the valve. A pressure-activated valve may be used as an alternative to the float-activated valve.

  • Patent number: 9560918
Abstract: A weapon delivery system includes a vertical structure defining an opening and a hidden compartment above the opening, and a delivery structure pivoted to a bottom of the vertical structure that when in a closed position generally covers the opening. The delivery structure includes a horizontal top member adapted to support a long gun in a known orientation in the hidden compartment and, when the delivery structure is moved to an open position, causes the long gun to be dropped onto the hands of the person in the known orientation. This allows the person to immediately grasp the long gun in a manner ready to deal with an intruder or danger. The illustrated system is a bed headboard positioned so that a person sleeping on the bed can reach up, press the delivery structure, and drop the long gun into their waiting hands.
