  • Publication number: 20200281098
Abstract: A cooling arrangement for an electronic device comprises a primary cooling device and a secondary cooling device. The primary cooling device includes a fluidic input line receiving a cooling fluid from a cooling fluid source and a fluidic output line returning the cooling fluid toward a drain. The primary cooling device is thermally connected to the electronic device, receives the cooling fluid from the fluidic input line and transfers heat from the electronic device to the cooling fluid before returning the cooling fluid via the fluidic output line. A flow detection device monitors a flow of the cooling fluid in the primary cooling device. The secondary cooling device is thermally connected to the electronic device. A processor activates the secondary cooling device to absorb and dissipate heat from the electronic device when the flow detection device detects a lack of flow of the cooling fluid in the primary cooling device.

  • Publication number: 20200281099
Abstract: A heat extraction system for an enclosure comprises heat pipes having an evaporating reference temperature and a condensing reference temperature lower than the evaporating reference temperature, an evaporator portion and a condenser portion. The heat extraction system includes a support frame adapted for connection to the enclosure. The support frame is arranged with respect to the heat pipes such that, when the support frame is connected to the enclosure, the evaporator portion is thermally coupled to the at least one computer and the condenser portion is thermally coupled to a surrounding environment of the enclosure. The heat pipes are arranged with respect to the enclosure so as to transfer thermal energy from the enclosure to the surrounding environment when an interior temperature of the enclosure is greater than the evaporating reference temperature and an exterior temperature of the surrounding environment is less than the condensing reference temperature.

  • Publication number: 20200278227
Abstract: A flow detection device comprises a fluidic input port connected to a fluidic output port via a channel and a float located within the channel. A specific weight of the float exceeds a specific weight of a fluid injected in the flow detection device. Respective locations of the fluidic input port, of the channel and of the fluidic output port on the flow detection device cause the float to rise within the channel when a sufficient flow of the fluid is injected in the flow detection device. A sensor is provided to detect a position of the float within the channel. The flow detection device may be integrated in a cooling circuit having a cooling device for an electronic device to detect an eventual lack of a flow of a cooling fluid in the cooling circuit. A status of the flow of the cooling fluid is reported to a processor.

  • Publication number: 20200178413
Abstract: A rack adapted for receiving one or more components is disclosed. The rack includes a backplane, a pair of side panels extending from the backplane and internal support members on each side to receive and mechanically guide an initial alignment of components upon their initial insertion in the rack. A pair of male connectors mounted to the backplane is configured to mate with a corresponding pair of female connectors of each component to mechanically guide a final alignment of each component when the component is further inserted in the rack. Mechanical guidance may also be provided by, or supplemented with, a connection capable of providing liquid cooling to the rack. A system including the rack and the component inserted in the rack is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200163256
Abstract: A rack arrangement for a data center includes at least one row of racks including a plurality of computer racks and an air handler rack. Each computer rack includes a computer rack frame including a housing unit for housing computer equipment. The air handler rack includes an air handler rack frame, a heat exchanger and at least one fan. The at least one fan is configured for pulling air into the air handler rack via an air inlet side and discharging air via an air outlet side of the air handler rack, directing air through the heat exchanger. An air inlet side of any one of the computer racks and the air outlet side of the air handler rack are on a cold aisle side of the at least one row of racks. At least one selected rack is stacked atop the air handler rack.

  • Publication number: 20190310020
Abstract: A heat exchanger assembly has a frame including first and second legs laterally spaced apart, a lower transversal member extending laterally and interconnecting the legs, first and second upstanding members laterally spaced apart and extending upwardly from the lower transversal member, an upper transversal member extending laterally and disposed above the lower transversal member and connected to the first and second upstanding members, and first and second upper retaining members laterally spaced apart and being connected to the upper transversal member and extending transversally to the upper transversal member. First and second heat exchanger panels are connected to the first and second upper retaining members. The heat exchanger panels are disposed in a V-configuration such that a distance between upper ends thereof is greater than a distance between lower ends thereof. A fan has a fan rotation axis extending generally parallel to the first and second upstanding members.

  • Publication number: 20190309966
Abstract: A cooling assembly includes a plurality of dry coolers. Each dry cooler has an air intake, an air outtake, a heat exchanger panel for exchanging heat with air pulled into the dry cooler, and a fan rotating about a fan rotation axis for pulling air into the dry cooler and rejecting heated air out of the dry cooler. The heat exchanger panel includes a tubing arrangement for circulating fluid therein. The dry coolers are arranged in a plurality of dry cooler stacks. Each dry cooler stack includes a first dry cooler and a second dry cooler disposed above the first dry cooler. The dry cooler stacks are positioned such that the dry coolers of each dry cooler stack reject heated air into a common heat rejection zone. Each dry cooler is oriented such that the fan rotation axis of the dry cooler is substantially transversal to a vertical axis.
