Patent number: 6303825Abstract: The present invention provides a method of starting up a loop reactor system, which method includes heating a reaction mixture present in the loop reactor system with the heat of reaction of at least one exothermic reaction occurring in the loop reactor system. The method of the invention makes possible an inexpensive, reliable and simple start-up of loop reactor systems, since the heat liberated when carrying out an exothermic reaction is utilized for heating the reaction mixture present in the loop reactor. Use of the method of the invention makes it unnecessary to switch heat exchangers over from coolant to heat transfer media such as steam. Since the method of the invention is able to heat up the reaction mixture in the loop reactor system more rapidly than in conventional methods, the number and the amount of by-products formed by secondary reactions during the start-up phase is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2000Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: Phenolchemie GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5476533Abstract: A sinterable mixture comprising iron-containing materials and solid fuel is sintered on a sintering machine; to decrease the rate at which exhaust gas is to be removed and to produce a desirable sinter, a part of the exhaust gas is enriched to an oxygen content of up to 24% by the addition of higher-oxygen gases and is then recirculated as a recycle gas, and exhaust gas is removed as a tail gas from the process only at a rate which corresponds to the rate of the gas which is formed during the sintering process plus the rate of the gas added for enriching plus the rate of inleaked air which has infiltrated from the outside minus the rate of oxygen consumption.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1992Date of Patent: December 19, 1995Assignee: Metallgesellschaft AktiengesellschaftInventors: Fred Stieler, Norbert Magedanz, Walter Gerlach, Jurgen Otto, Martin Hirsch, Fred Cappel, Detlev Schlebusch, Hermann Schmidt, Heiko Weisel, Hans-Joachim Werz

Patent number: 5297905Abstract: A tool for processing holes has a shaft which can be clamped in a drive element for executing a forward stroke into a working position within a hole, a return stroke, and an at least rotating working motion of the tool, two support elements arranged on the shaft, wires clamped at one end of the shaft between the support elements and being sprung bowing away from the shaft in an arc shape, the wires being coated with a cutting medium. One of the support elements is axially adjustable relative to the shaft. The shaft has axially positioned slots distributed on a circumference in two regions axially offset from one another. The shaft also has an axial hole leading out from both ends of the shaft and extending into the regions. The support elements are formed as limit stops inserted in the axial hole and each end just short of an entry of the hole into an area of the slots. The wires have ends extending through the slots and coming to rest on the limit stops.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1992Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Hermann Schmidt, Dieter Aulich, Peter Essig

Patent number: 5266914Abstract: A magnetic chuck assembly comprises top and bottom plates separated by a layer of non-magnetizable material, each plate having magnetizable sections separated by strips of non-magnetic material. A rotor mounted between the top and bottom plates carries a plurality of permanent magnets substantially symmetrically disposed therein. The magnets in each half of the rotor are of the same polarity but those in one half are of opposite polarity to those in the other. When the rotor is turned to a position in which all the magnets of like polarity in one half thereof lie between the magnetizable sections of the plates on the same side of the non-magnetizable strips, the sections become magnetized and hold a magnetizable workpiece in place on the edges of the plate. Switching the rotor to a position in which equal numbers of magnets of opposite polarity lie between the magnetizable sections serves to de-energize the latter and release the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1992Date of Patent: November 30, 1993Assignee: The Herman Schmidt CompanyInventors: Robert M. Dickson, Hermann Schmidt

Patent number: 5161572Abstract: A pressure valve, which is installed in the delivery line leading from a fuel injection pump to a fuel injection valve, and which has a valve closing member opening in the direction of delivery, which is provided with a return collar. To achieve uniform injection, particularly a uniform curve of injection at a given load plotted against the speed, the opening rate of the connecting cross-section at the valve closing member is controlled by the guide part being provided immediately adjacent to the return collar, which guide part has three excisions at its circumference. These excisions are bounded by a flow channel guiding the valve closing member and have a defined flow cross-section of equal size, which in total is of the order of magnitude of the cross-section of the delivery line.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1991Date of Patent: November 10, 1992Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Johann Oberl, Hermann Schmidt, Rolf Lutz

Patent number: 5160510Abstract: A process and apparatus are used for purifying dust- and pollutant-containing exhaust gases, which are first subjected in a first stage to a dry purification in a mass separator and are subsequently subjected in a second stage to an electrostatic purification in an electrostatic precipitator. In the second stage the exhaust gases are passed through one or more fields provided with liquid-wetted collecting electrodes, which define gas passages. The electrostatic precipitator also has an overflow trough and a collecting trough for each collecting electrode. Liquid supplied to the overflow trough flows onto the collecting electrode and then is collected in the collecting trough.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1991Date of Patent: November 3, 1992Assignee: Metallgesellschaft AktiengesellschaftInventors: Karl Steinbacher, Hermann Schmidt, Wilhelm Leussler

Patent number: 5160351Abstract: The process for cleaning collecting surfaces of dedusting electrostatic precipitators includes the steps of introducing a coarse-grained cleaning dust into the dedusting electrostatic precipitator, collecting at least the cleaning dust electrostatically in the dedusting electrostatic precipitator and periodically removing the cleaning dust so collected from the collecting surfaces to form a collected dust. To provide a more complete cleaning, the cleaning dust is fed into a gas-flowless space above the fields containing the collecting electrodes and the cleaning dust is distributed in the gas-flowless space according to the cleaning requirements. An apparatus for performing the above cleaning process is also described.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1991Date of Patent: November 3, 1992Assignee: Metallgesellschaft AktiengesellschaftInventors: Hermann Schmidt, Wilhelm Leussler
