Abstract: In a recording tape cartridge provided with a reel having a hub at which a recording tape is wound, a case that accommodates the reel such that the reel is rotatable, and an opening formed at the case from which a leader member attached to a distal end of the recording tape is pulled out, the hub is formed in a substantial barrel shape. Further, the hub of a take-up reel of a drive device into which the recording tape cartridge is loaded is formed in a substantial barrel shape.

Abstract: There are provided a tape reel and a take-up reel at which it is possible to easily and inexpensively manufacture a hub having, at an outer peripheral surface thereof, a portion whose diameter is larger than diameters of each of the end portions of the hub, and a recording tape cartridge having the tape reel and a drive device having the take-up reel. At a tape reel 20 having a hub 22, which is made of resin on which a recording tape T is wound, and flanges 24, 26, which are provided at both end portions of the hub 22, a ring-shaped member 48, whose outer diameter is larger than an inner diameter of at least one portion of the hub 22, is press-fit in at an inner side of the hub 22. The tape reel 20 which has the hub 22 having, at least a portion of an outer peripheral surface, a portion whose diameter is larger than diameters of each of the end portions of the hub, is thereby easily formed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a tape reel, a recording tape cartridge, a take-up reel, a pullout member and a drive device that can control fluctuation of a recording tape in the axial direction of a hub and can, even when the recording tape is thinned in accompaniment with an increase in recording capacity, prevent the occurrence of tape edge damage. A tape reel 20 includes: a hub 22 on which is wound a recording tape T on which is recorded servo signals S that are a reference for tracking by a recording/playback head 88 of a drive device 70; and flanges 24 and 26 provided integrally at both end portions of the hub 22, wherein the diameter of a substantially central portion of the hub 22 is formed larger than the diameters of each of the end portions of the hub 22.

Abstract: A press die for molding an edge wall at a peripheral edge of a workpiece includes a die convexly formed along a shape of one surface of the edge wall, a punch formed with a concave portion along the other surface of the edge wall, and a stripper for holding the workpiece with the die therebetween, wherein a clearance between the die and the punch is in a range of not less than 70% and not more than 95% of a thickness of the workpiece before forming.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cartridge is equipped with a cartridge, a single tape reel, a tape leader pin, and a U-shaped clip. The cartridge case is formed by fastening upper and lower cases of synthetic resin together and has a tape leader opening formed in the upper and lower side walls of the upper and lower cases. The single tape reel has magnetic tape wound thereon and is rotatably housed within the cartridge case. The tape leader pin is firmly attached to a leading end of the magnetic tape, and is detachably held in an upright state between the upper and lower cases so that it faces the tape leader opening. The U-shaped clip is attached to walls near the tape leader opening to fasten the upper and lower cases together, whereby the fastening strength of the upper and lower cases is enhanced.

Abstract: A burring method forms a boss on a metal sheet, using a press die including: a die with a burring hole formed therein; and a burring punch having a shape adapted to be inserted into the burring hole. In the burring method, a width of a clearance formed between the burring hole and the burring punch is in a range not less than 60% and not more than 115%, preferably not less than 65% and not more than 100%, and more preferably, not less than 75% and not more than 95%, of a thickness of the metal sheet, before the metal sheet goes through a burring process.

Abstract: A recording medium cartridge includes an upper case and lower case made of resin, joined via joining portions which are respectively formed thereat. Mutually communicating hole portions are formed at the joining portions. At least one of the hole portions penetrates to a case outer face. A molten resin material is injected into the hole portions, and the injected resin material solidifies. Thus, the upper case and the lower case are joined together. A recording medium cartridge which enables an improvement in recyclability and is excellent for the environment, and a fabrication method thereof, are provided.

A restraining member, for restricting rotation of the reel by moving toward or away from the reel, is urged in a restraining direction by an urging member. The pushing-up portions of a releasing member are inserted into the through holes bored in the reel gear of the reel 2 so that the lower ends can abut a driving gear. The releasing member moves the restraining member in a releasing direction by moving according to the chucking operation of drive-side rotation drive means. In this manner, reel-rotation restraining means allows rotation of the reel when being used and restricts the rotation when not being used. In this construction, each of the through holes is bored between the tooth edges of the reel gear so that the releasing member can perform a reliable releasing operation.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge comprises a single reel at which a recording tape is wound around a hub, a case rotatably accommodating the reel, an opening for pulling-out of a leader member attached to an end portion of the recording tape, and a tape guide which the recording tape slidingly contacts is provided within the case. After the recording tape slidingly contacts the tape guide, the recording tape is taken-up at a drive device, and therefore, traveling of the recording tape is stable. In this way, occurrence of reading errors of servo signals and recording/playback errors of data signals at a drive device can be reduced, even with recording tapes whose recording densities are improved.

On the other hand, the groove, which faces the rib, is carved on the inner side surface of the sliding door. The rib engages with the groove, thereby restricting the vertical displacement of the sliding door. Also, the engagement of the rib and the groove guides the sliding door in the guide channel freely.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cartridge includes a cartridge casing and a single reel which is contained in the cartridge casing for rotation. A brake member of the magnetic cartridge is provided with a brake gear and is movable up and down between an operative position and a retracted position. The reel is provided with a reel gear which is brought into mesh with a drive gear of a tape drive mechanism and a through hole through which a push rod extending from a brake release member projects to be brought into abutment against the drive gear of the tape drive mechanism so that the brake release member moves the brake member to the retracted position. The through hole opens in an area which is slightly wider than tips of teeth of the reel gear, wherein the area includes a pair of opposed flanks of the reel gear which form a valley.
