  • Patent number: 5078475
Abstract: A liquid crystal device comprises a pair of substrates and a ferroelectric liquid crystal disposed between the substrates. At least one of the substrates has thereon a color filter layer and a protection layer for preventing direct contact between the color filter and the ferroelectric liquid crystal. Particulate spacers are preferably disposed between the substrates. The protection layer preferably comprises a film having a pencil hardness of HB or harder (JIS K 5401).

  • Patent number: 4818075
Abstract: Disclosed is a color liquid crystal device comprising a pair of substrates having electrodes, a color filter disposed between at least one of the pair of substrates and the electrodes or on the electrodes, and a liquid crystal disposed between the pair of substrates. The color filter is composed of a resin and a coloring material, and V and P have a relationship of 1/3.ltoreq.P/V.ltoreq.3/2, where V (gr) and P (gr) are the respective contents of the resin and the coloring material that forms the color filter.

  • Patent number: 4793692
Abstract: A color filter is provided by forming a vapor-deposited green colorant layer of an octa-4,5-phenylphthalocyanine colorant which is octa-4,5-phenylphthalocyanine or a metal complex thereof represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is Cu, GaOH, VO, Ni, Pd, Pb, Mg, Ca or Co. The spectral characteristics of the green colorant layer may be corrected with a yellow colorant such as an isoindolinone colorant or an anthraquinone colorant.

  • Patent number: 4786148
Abstract: A color filter comprises a substrate and colored resin films, disposed on the support, including a blue resin film containing blue colorant particles dispersed therein, a green resin film containing green colorant particles dispersed therein and a red resin film containing red colorant particles dispersed therein. Scattering characteristic from the respective colored resin films is uniformized by satisfying the following conditions. The average particle volume V.sub.B, V.sub.G and V.sub.R of the blue, green and red colorants, respectively, are set to satisfy V.sub.B <V.sub.G <V.sub.R. The surface roughness of or the colorant content in the colored resin films is set to successively increase in the order of the blue resin film, the green resin film and the red resin film.

  • Patent number: 4777117
Abstract: A process for producing a color filter having plural number of colorant layer patterns by repeating, for each of a plural number of starting materials for colorant layer, the steps of subjecting a substrate having a photoresist laminated thereon to pattern exposure to effect patterning of said photo-resist, laminating a colorant layer from said photoresist above and removing the layer of said photoresist having said colorant layer laminated thereon by dissolution to form a colorant layer pattern, comprises forming an alignment mark on said substrate with the same starting material as a first colorant layer pattern simultaneously with formation of said first colorant layer pattern and performing registration of the mask during formation of a second colorant layer pattern et seq. through said alignment mark.
