  • Patent number: 5473543
Abstract: A shift timing detecting system for detecting the start of a shift of an automatic transmission A in terms of a change in the R.P.M. of a predetermined rotary member after a shift command has been outputted. The shift timing detecting system comprises: a detector for detecting a change in the output R.P.M. of the automatic transmission; an arithmetic processor for arithmetically processing the change in the output R.P.M. with different coefficients to determine two processed values: a comparator for comparing the two processed values: and a shift start decider 5 for deciding the start of the shift on the basis of the result of the comparison. Since the shifting situation can be grasped from the change in the output torque accompanying the start of the shift and the change in the output R.P.M. caused by the former change, the start of the shift can be accurately detected without any time delay.

  • Patent number: 5411451
Abstract: A control system is provided for servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission. Upon downshifting, one of first and second frictional engagement devices is released while the other is engaged. A directional control valve is provided to feed or drain servo hydraulic pressure to selectively engage or release the first and second devices. The hydraulic pressure is regulated by a pressure regulator under the control of an electronic control unit. Detectors are also provided to determine input rotation and torque, respectively. • Patent number: 5401219
Abstract: An oil pressure control system for an automatic transmission for executing a downshift by disengaging a first frictional engagement element and engaging a second frictional engagement element. At a latter stage of a shift, the first frictional engagement element has its torque capacity increased by raising its oil pressure temporarily. After this, if a synchronization substantially reaching the revolution number at a gear stage after the downshift is detected, the first frictional engagement element has its torque capacity gradually dropped by dropping the oil pressure thereof gradually, and the second frictional engagement element has its oil pressure abruptly raised.

  • Patent number: 5368531
Abstract: A method is provided for the control of servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission. Servo hydraulic pressure is adapted to engage or release first and second frictional engagement elements arranged in such a relationship that, upon shifting from one particular speed stage to another, one of the first and second frictional engagement elements is released while the other is engaged. The servo hydraulic pressure, engaging one frictional engagement element, is linearly lowered in a torque phase during a shift so it releases the one frictional engagement element, responsive to a rise in the servo hydraulic pressure to the frictional engagement element to be engaged, to maintain an inversely proportional relationship between the servo hydraulic pressure being raised and that being released.

  • Patent number: 5339709
Abstract: A control system is provided for an automatic transmission which has primary and second shifting units connected together to provide multi-stage speed ranges. Upon performing a combined shift, a hydraulic control circuit disconnects a hydraulic servomotor and its corresponding accumulator and the pressure in the servomotor is controlled by an electrical signal. When a decision for a second shift is made in the course of the combined shift, the pressure in a hydraulic servomotor for a downshift frictional engagement element is controlled by an electrical signal to return the element to its position before the combined shift while monitoring the number of revolutions of a rotating member in the transmission. As a consequence, a particular speed stage is configured and a shift signal corresponding to the decision of the second shift is outputted to the circuit.
