  • Patent number: 6325656
Abstract: A lock structure comprising a male connector housing, a female connector, an elastic lock arm, a lock-retaining portion and a correction portion. The female connector housing is to be fitted with the male connector housing in an opposing manner. The elastic lock arm is provided on one of the male and female connector housings and has a lock projection. The lock-retaining portion is provided on the one of the male and female connector housings that is not provided with the elastic lock arm. The lock projection of the lock arm is engageable with the lock-retaining portion. The correction portion corrects elastic deformation of the lock arm when the male and female connector housings are fitted together.

  • Publication number: 20010006861
Abstract: The connector includes a connector housing having a resilient locking arm for locking a terminal and a holder having an extended piece inserted into an insertion space of the connector housing. In an incomplete insertion state of the terminal, the locking arm deflects so that a free end surface of the locking arm protrudes from an inner wall of the insertion space to cause the extended piece to abut against the free end surface of the locking arm. Meanwhile, in a complete insertion state of the terminal, the extended piece is inserted into the insertion space to lie over the locking arm. The extended piece is longitudinally inclined toward the locking arm so that the extended piece can slidingly contact the inner wall of the insertion space.

  • Patent number: 6068527
Abstract: In a mold for pressing an electric-wire clamping portion of a terminal, a lower side-wall mold part and an upper side-wall mold part are provided for pressing side walls connected to the electric-wire clamping portion. A pressure face substantially continuously connected to a pressure face of an upper conductor mold part is provided on one end side of the upper side-wall mold part. A taper face is provided on the other end side of the upper side-wall mold part so as to be enlarged toward the other end. Accordingly, side walls pressed between the lower side-wall mold part and the upper side-wall mold part are deformed so that the quantity of deformation at one end is near the quantity of compressive deformation of the electric-wire clamping portion and so that the quantity of deformation is reduced gradually toward the other end side. Thus, local stress concentration is not caused in the side walls so that cracks are prevented from occurring in the side walls.

  • Patent number: 6000976
Abstract: Beveled, chamfered portions are formed at one or both of front and rear ends of each of projected portions including a box-like electrical contact portion and wire-clamping portions, or all of edges of a terminal. A slanting wall, slanting in a direction of withdrawal of the waterproof rubber plug, is provided at a rear side of the projected portion. Annular protective portions are provided adjacent to front and rear ends of the conductor-clamping portion, respectively, the annular protective portions being larger in outer diameter than raised front and rear ends of the conductor-clamping portion after compressive clamping of the conductor-clamping portion. A generally semi-annular projection for preventing an inverted insertion of the terminal is provided at a bottom plate portion of the terminal, and an arch-like curved portion, extending in a direction of the width of the terminal, is formed at an apex portion of the projection.

  • Patent number: 5941737
Abstract: A double retaining connector having a terminal retaining member (4) movably mounted in an intermediate portion of a connector housing (1) having terminal receiving chambers (17). Cam pins (5) are formed on opposite side surfaces of the terminal retaining member to drive the terminal retaining member between a stand-by position, in which terminal receiving portions in the terminal retaining member communicate respectively with the terminal receiving chambers, and a retaining position, in which terminal retaining portions (6) engage the terminals. A detection member (8) having cam bars (9) with slide surfaces (cam groove 10) for engagement with the associated cam pin, is removably attached to a rear end of the housing. A short-distance movement of the terminal retaining member (4) from the stand-by position into the retaining position is effected through a long-distance movement of the detection member (8) in a direction parallel to the axes of the terminals.

  • Patent number: 5649842
Abstract: A terminal structure includes a male terminal which is formed by folding a piece of plate material and a female terminal into which the male terminal is inserted for an electrical connection therebetween. The male terminal has a rod-shaped electrical connection part formed on an end thereof. The electrical connection part is provided on an upper surface thereof with raised portions which are brought into contact with the female terminal when the male terminal is inserted thereinto. The female terminal is formed by folding a piece of plate material. The female terminal is provided inside thereof with a plane upper surface for depressing the male terminal and is also provided with a resilient tongue piece for supporting the male terminal from below. Due to provision of the raised portions on the male terminal, the contacting area between the male terminal and the plane upper surface of the female terminal is reduced to obtain a terminal structure requiring low insertion force.

  • Patent number: 5624272
Abstract: A connector comprising a first connector housing having a resilient locking arm and side walls provided on both sides of the locking arm to protect the locking arm, and a second connector housing having a locking protrusion to engage the resilient locking arm for locking. The first connector housing has a mechanism for preventing an excessive shift of the locking arm when the resilient locking arm is unlocked from the locking protrusion. The mechanism includes an engagement member arranged on the locking arm which projects beyond the transverse sides of the locking arm and receipt members which extends from the respective side walls beneath the ends of the engagement member so as to hit thereon when said locking arm is pushed down. Thus, a mechanism for preventing an application of excessive stress to the locking arm can be provided without increasing the size of the connector housings.

  • Patent number: 5299958
Abstract: In a connector, a terminal lock member has openings in correspondence to terminal accommodating chambers formed in a connector housing. Of the vertical plates forming the terminal lock member, two are suitably selected. Each of the vertical plates thus selected has a first locking protrusion on one end face thereof, and a flexible arm formed by cutting a slit therein in such a manner that the flexible arm has a second locking protrusion on the other end fact. On the other hand, the connector housing has first and second engaging portions and in correspondence to the first and second locking protrusions. When the terminal lock member is inserted into the housing through the cavity to a temporary locking position where the openings align with the terminal accommodating chambers, the first locking protrusions are engaged with the first engaging portions, so that the terminal lock member is temporarily locked there.
