  • Publication number: 20020135289
Abstract: The present invention provides a color cathode-ray tube that can attenuate vibration of an entire shadow mask positively with a simple structure. The color cathode-ray tube comprises a frame-shaped mask frame and a shadow mask in which many apertures are formed in a flat plate, the shadow mask being stretched and fixed in the mask frame in a condition in which a tension force is applied in one direction. The amplitude in the end portions of the shadow mask is not less than a certain amount relative to the amplitude in the center portion of the shadow mask, in a resonance of the shadow mask caused by a vibration propagated to the color cathode-ray tube. Furthermore, by providing vibration attenuators at the end portions of the shadow mask, vibrations at the end portions of the shadow mask are attenuated as the side surfaces of the shadow mask slide on the vibration attenuators. Thus, vibration of the entire shadow mask can be extinguished positively.

Abstract: A method of generating musical tones and a storage medium storing a program for executing the method are provided. Musical piece data is decomposed into phrases, the musical piece data being formed of pieces of performance data arranged in the order of performance. The pieces of performance data of the musical piece data are analyzed for each of the phrases obtained by the decomposing step. Tone color control data is prepared for each of the phrases according to results of the analyzing. The pieces of performance data of the musical piece data are reproduced by sequentially reading the pieces of performance data at timing at which the pieces of performance data are to be performed to the order of performance.

  • Patent number: 6403871
Abstract: Data to be used for generating tone waveform data corresponding to a partial time section of a tone are stored in a basic file or expansion file. In a wave part area of each of the files, there are stored wave part data to be used for generating tone waveform data corresponding to a partial time section of a tone, and the wave part data includes information designating several groups of template data indicative of variations, in the partial time section, of a plurality of tone factors, such as a waveform template, pitch template, amplitude template, spectrum template and time template. Each of the expansion files contains data representative of differences from data stored in the corresponding basic file. The data are stored in such a manner as to avoid overlapping data storage, in order to minimize the total quantity of data.

  • Patent number: 6365817
Abstract: Set of sample identification information and representative-point designating data is generated in accordance with performance data or the like, and sample data is obtained by referring to a database in accordance with the generated sample identification information. If necessary, the thus-obtained sample data is adjusted or modified on the basis of the representative-point designating data. Characteristic of the sample data can be controlled appropriately and efficiently by the representative-point designating data specifying representative sample points for which sample data adjustment is to be performed. For example, particular sample data that is located at a given representative sample point designated by the representative-point designating data is adjusted in accordance with adjustment information, and other sample data that is located at another sample point is adjusted simultaneously with such adjustment at the representative sample point.

  • Patent number: 6362411
Abstract: Control data are extracted from tone waveforms obtained by actually playing acoustic musical instruments in various styles of rendition, and a plurality of these control data are stored in memory to provide databases. Automatic or manual music performance data are supplied in real or non-real time. Desired one or more notes are selected from among the supplied music performance data, and a desired style of rendition is selected in corresponding relation to the selected notes. Then, one or more control data corresponding to the selected style of rendition are read out from the memory so that generation of a tone corresponding to the selected notes can be controlled in accordance with the read-out control data. In this way, characteristics of the selected style of rendition can be imparted to any particular note or notes included in the music performance data. The control data are stored in the memory in association with partial sounding segments such as an attack, body and release.

  • Publication number: 20010038348
Abstract: An endian conversion apparatus includes a first switch. The first switch inputs an input byte data, a data size signal, an endian switch signal and a byte enable data to output an output byte data on which a second endian representation is performed. The input byte data includes a plurality of byte data on which a first endian representation is performed. The data size signal indicates the number of bytes to be recognized as a unit data. The endian switch signal indicates an execution of an endian conversion. The byte enable data indicates a byte position to be recognized as the unit data. The first endian representation is performed on the byte enable data. The first switch outputs the output byte data having the number of bytes indicated by the data size signal when the endian switch signal indicates the execution. An array of the byte position indicated by the byte enable data is maintained in the output byte data.

  • Patent number: 6310279
Abstract: When performance information, such as MIDI data, is input, physical events or phenomena are simulated on the basis of the input performance information, and computer graphics or CG parameters and tone parameters are determined on the basis of the simulated results. The determined CG parameters are passed to a general-purpose CG library, while the determined tone parameters are passed to a tone generator driver. The general-purpose CG library generates data representing a three-dimensional configuration of an object on the basis of the received CG parameters, and executes a rendering operation to generate two-dimensional picture data on the basis of the three-dimensional data, so that the thus-generated two-dimensional picture data is visually displayed. The tone generator driver generates a tone signal on the basis of the received tone parameters, which is audibly reproduced as an output tone.

  • Patent number: 6288320
Abstract: An electric musical instrument is provided, which enables rich and diverse expressions to be achieved in musical performance. A driving member drives a tone generating source. A driving member-side signal generator obtains a signal from the driving member and outputs the obtained signal. A musical tone signal generator generates a musical tone signal using the signal output by the driving member-side signal generator and outputs the generated musical tone signal. In another aspect of the invention, a tone generating source-side signal generator obtains a tone generating source-side signal from the tone generating source and outputs the obtained signal, and a driving member-side signal generator obtains a driving member-side signal from the driving member and outputs the obtained signal. A modulation device frequency-modulates one of the tone generating source-side signal and the driving member side signal with the other signal. The modulated signal is output from the modulation device as a sound.

  • Patent number: 6284964
Abstract: A waveform producing method includes a step of producing a waveform presenting style-of-rendition characteristics corresponding to style-of-rendition identification information, on the basis of individual vector data arranged on the time axis. Each style-of-rendition identification information is representative of style-of-rendition characteristics of a performance tone and indicates one of a plurality of styles of rendition to which the style-of-rendition characteristics correspond. A plurality of vector data are generated, in accordance with the received style-of-rendition identification information, for production of a waveform presenting the style-of-rendition characteristics. The vector data correspond to a plurality of different fundamental waveform factors for constituting a waveform. By arranging the individual vector data on the time axis, a waveform shape or envelope corresponding to the waveform factors can be built along a reproducing time axis of the performance tone.

  • Patent number: 6281420
Abstract: A performance data editing system is actualized by a computer system (or electronic musical instrument) which is equipped with a display and a mouse. The system initially provides a score window containing various types of execution icon layers onto which execution icons are attached and arranged in conformity with a progression of a musical tune on a screen of the display. The system provides an icon modify window that allows the user to modify parameters of a specific icon which is selected from among the execution icons attached onto the score window by double clicks of the mouse. Herein, the score window shows a part of a musical score (or a staff notation with notes), while the icon modify window shows an edited portion of the musical score by magnification, wherein a range of execution-related data being edited on the icon modify window is automatically indicated on the musical score of the score window.

  • Patent number: 6255576
Abstract: Sets of waveform data of unit waveforms stored in a memory each include first and second loop waveform segments at both ends of a non-loop waveform segment and any one of the unit waveform data sets can be selectively readout from the memory. The waveform data set of a desired one of the unit waveforms is read out from the memory and is connected with another waveform preceding or following the read-out unit waveform using the first or second loop waveform segment in the read-out unit waveform. Thus, a smooth connection between the read-out unit waveform and the other waveform is achieved with ease. This is because the loop waveform can be smoothly connected with any other waveform through cross-fade synthesis or phase-matched connection technique performed at an appropriate point in the loop.
