  • Patent number: 5642670
Abstract: A paper surface cleaning device for cleaning a surface of a printing paper running before being fed to a printing portion of a printing machine, which comprises a cleaning sheet having a water holding capacity in contact with the surface of the printing paper with a difference in running velocity between the printing paper and the cleaning sheet, a dampening roller which has, at its surface, a wettability so that water is attached to the surface of the dampening roller and which functions to push the cleaning sheet onto the surface of the printing paper, and a water pan into which the dampening roller is dipped partially. An even water film can be formed on the surface of the dampening roller to enable the cleaning sheet to get wet uniformly in its widthwise direction.

  • Patent number: 5309836
Abstract: A cleaning device is disclosed for an offset printing machine for quickly removing stains on a printed matter. A number of scrapers (7) are arranged in an axial direction of the surface of a printing drum (1) of the offset printing machine. The scrapers (7) are held by rods of air cylinders (8) which cause the scrapers to contact or be separated away from the surface of the drum (1). Solenoid valves are arranged corresponding to respective cylinders. The solenoid valves are controlled by a control unit (16). The position of hickey on the surface of the drum is designated from an information of a hickey position on the printed matter generated corresponding to the stain on the surface of the drum. When the associated solenoid valves are actuated, then the scrapers are brought into contact with the hickey position on the drum surface to scrape the hickey.

  • Patent number: 4860574
Abstract: A closed loop-like measuring passage is provided with two openings at symmetrical positions, and a sample gas is introduced through on opening into the passage and discharged therefrom through the other opening. A bypass pipe is connected to the measuring passage midway therealong, and a stable purge gas of known composition is introduced into the pipe from the center thereof. A magnetic field is generated in one of the two connecting portions between the bypass pipe and the measuring passage, and the oxygen gas attracting action of the field results in a change in the ratio of the split of the purge gas stream introduced into the bypass pipe and split into two streams. This change is detected by a pair of purge gas stream detecting sensors provided inside the bypass pipe symmetrically with respect to the portion through which the purge gas is introduced, and the thus detected signals are processed to obtain the difference between them which gives the oxygen gas concentration in the sample gas.

  • Patent number: 4826959
Abstract: A mixture of an isomer of 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile) having a low melting point in an amount of about 70% by weight or more and an isomer of 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile) having a high melting point in an amount of about 30% by weight or less shows excellent solvent solubility, which is higher than that of the isomer having a low melting point. The mixture is useful as a polymerization initiator, and also as a blowing agent.

  • Patent number: 4594868
Abstract: A method for registering in an offset printing press comprises: mounting a printing plate on a shiftable table of a plate bending machine; detecting datum fine lines on said plate, by means of optical sensors; shifting the shiftable table so that said datum fine lines are placed at specific positions; inscribing, by means of a register mark inscribing device, register marks for carrying out automatic registering while, at the same time, bending the lateral edges of the printing plate; thereafter mounting the printing plate on a corresponding plate cylinder of a printing press; and carrying out automatic registering. The above plate bending machine comprises plate bending mechanisms, a shiftable table for holding the printing plate, optical detection sensors disposed above the shiftable table and operating to detect datum lines on the plate and thereby to generate signals for the movement of the table and register mark inscribing devices for automatic registering on a plate cylinder of the printing press.

  • Patent number: 4582768
Abstract: A method for forming or marking register marks used for the automatic registration between a plurality of printing plates in a printing press. A register mark forming or marking device is mounted on a printing frame of an automatic composer so that a register mark can be formed or marked on a printing plate simultaneously with the printing of a film original over the printing plate. Misalignment between the thus formed or marked register marks and patterns or images can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4499827
Abstract: A system for automatically removing dust from a plate cylinder of a printing press has a laminated structure for inputting a dust removal position, which comprises (a) a printed circuit substrate bearing thereon a reference signal input circuit of comb form with numerous comb conductors and position signal read-out circuits alternatively interposed respectively between adjacent pairs of comb conductors and (b) a pressure-activated conductor sheet superposed in laminated state on and over the circuit substrate. When a printed material having a printing defect due to dust on the printing plate is laid over with correct register on this laminated structure, and the part of the defect is pressed, the nearest conductors of the input circuit and of the read-out circuit are shorted to designate the position of the defect. The resulting signal is processed and is sent to a dust removing mechanism to move a disk-shaped elastic dust removing head to the corresponding dust existing part of the printing plate.
