  • Patent number: 4671683
Abstract: An electronic typewriter including a memory storing therein text data which is printed as printing signals are produced. The electronic typewriter enables the operator to pass judgment as to whether printing can be performed on a portion of a sheet of paper between the last printed line and the trailing end of the sheet when the sheet of paper has been set in the typewriter in a usual manner, so that printing can be continued when it is possible to do so. When it is judged that it is impossible to continue printing due to a lack of space, printing is stopped and the existence of the condition of "paper empty" is indicated, prompting the operator to insert a new sheet of paper.

  • Patent number: 4624587
Abstract: An electronic typewriter provided with a display unit giving visual display of data in a number of positions of characters shorter in length than one line of characters printed on a sheet of paper which includes a cursor for indicating the next following position of data input. The cursor may be shifted out of the display unit when necessary, and when the data imputted to the last position in the display unit is dead key data, the position of the dead key data is indicated by the cursor, so that the display unit can display data greater by one character than display units of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 4571100
Abstract: An electronic typewriter has a vertical tab key for printing one continuous vertical line, extending in a plurality of printing lines. By operating the vertical tab key, a control unit detects a set paper feed amount and feeds the paper reversely to a position whereat printing of a vertical line is done, in alignment with a vertical line printed in a previous printing line, thereby to print a continuous vertical line. The paper is fed forwards by an amount less than the unit length of vertical line which can be an amount less than a unit length of the vertical line as one character, and then the vertical line is printed. Such operations are repeated so that one vertical line continues from the vertical line of the previous printing line to the present printing line.

  • Patent number: 4564304
Abstract: When data entered from a keyboard of a typewriter is stored in a text memory and a text is created, the text creation work may be stopped temporarily. When a text is created, after stopping the text creation, in continuation to that stored already in the text memory, margin information and tab information in the text already stored in the text memory are retrieved in the text from the beginning to the end, the content of the register to store the margin information and tab information, is rewritten depending on the retrieved margin information and tab information.

  • Patent number: 4564301
Abstract: Data entered from a keyboard of a typewriter is stored in a text memory, and then, the data stored in the text memory is read out and printed on a paper. In order to fully print the data stored in the text memory, a first printing control means is operated. In order to stop the printing operation at a position which was not intended when the text was created, the printing operation is stopped by a second printing control means every time one line is printed.

  • Patent number: 4557615
Abstract: In an electronic typewriter adapted to be set in an automatic power off mode, when no key operation is made for a predetermined period of time after the final key operation, the automatic power off mode can be cancelled through operation of a clearing key and the condition based on the key operation finally made, is reset. In the automatic power off mode, the OFF-ON operation of a main switch also cancels the automatic power off mode and resets the condition based on the key operation finally made just before the setting of the automatic power off mode.

  • Patent number: 4527917
Abstract: An electronic typewriter having calculating, displaying and editing capabilities as well as printing capability. The typewriter includes a main control device having three different modes in which the typewriter is operated. In the first mode, the control device performs an arithmetic operation which is defined in a statement including letters, at least one arithmetic symbol and plural numerical values entered through letter, numeral and arithmetic symbol keys. Further, in the first mode, the control device directs a display device to display the statement and a result of the arithmetic operation, and permits the displayed characters to be edited for correction or change. In the second mode, the control device permits the above items of operation in the first mode and directs a printing device to print the displayed characters. The third mode enables the typewriter to display entered characters and print the characters as they are entered and displayed.

  • Patent number: 4213596
Abstract: A trolley wire is paid out under tension from a drum on a traveling railroad car and is guided by a guide roller device on a following car to be hung by temporary hangers on a previously installed messenger wire, the guide roller device having a cradle rotatably supporting several transverse horizontal rollers and vertical rollers which respectively form a horizontal guide surface and two opposed vertical guide surfaces of large radii of curvature to prevent permanent bend sets in the trolley wire. The cradle is rockably supported on transverse pivot pins so that it can swing and optimally adapt to changes in the wire direction, and the mechanism thus supporting the cradle is also movable in the up-and-down directions and the in the transverse left-and-right directions.
