  • Patent number: 7768676
Abstract: An image reading apparatus has a scan quality parameter extraction part, a scan quality evaluation part and a notification part. The scan quality parameter extraction part extracts scan quality parameters representing the quality of a scanned image from image data based on a scan error detection algorithm. The scan quality evaluation part determines whether a scan error occurs, based on the scan error detection algorithm and the scan quality parameters. Also, the notification part notifies a result determined by the scan quality evaluation part to a user.

  • Patent number: 7738737
Abstract: An image processing apparatus sequentially reduces a document, while changing the reduction factor step-by-step. Next, the image processing apparatus refers to the characters that constitute the document that has been reduced with the respective reduction factors, and specifies a reduction factor at which blank regions surrounded by line portions that express each character do not disappear. When an appropriate reduction factor is specified, the image processing apparatus specifies a resolution of the characters for that reduction factor, and converts the resolution of the document data to that specified resolution. Then, the image processing apparatus performs various processing for the document data whose resolution has been converted. Thus the resolution of document data is converted such that the document is reduced with a reduction factor suitable for computer processing.

  • Patent number: 7333237
Abstract: Adjustment object color space containing movement source partial color space including a color of an object of conversion processing and movement destination partial color space including a color in which the conversion processing is performed so as to inscribe the spaces is handled as a conversion object region. The inside of the conversion object region is moved toward a target color so that coordinates of an adjustment object overlaps with coordinates of a point after movement and the boundary of a movement region moves little or does not move at all. As a result of this, a phenomenon such as a color jump or gradation inversion occurs little in the boundary portion to the outside of an adjustment object region. Therefore, maintenance of gradation continuity of an image of a color adjustment object and prevention of color inversion can be combined to make partial color adjustment.

  • Patent number: 7307753
Abstract: Receiving an object color signal and an input black colorant quantity associated with the object color signal, an equivalent output black colorant quantity calculating section calculates an equivalent output black colorant quantity in an output color space equivalent to the input black colorant quantity from the input black colorant quantity. An output color signal determining section calculates an output color signal from the object color signal and the equivalent input black colorant quantity, and determines whether or not the coverage restriction is satisfied. When the coverage restriction is not satisfied, an optimum black colorant quantity is calculated by adjusting the input black colorant quantity, and an optimum color signal satisfying the coverage restriction is calculated to generate an output color signal with the optimum black colorant quantity in the restriction black colorant quantity calculating section and subsequent processings.

  • Patent number: 7304767
Abstract: A regulated black colorant amount calculating section calculates a corresponding regulated black colorant amount from the L*a*b* of a plurality of typical color signals in a partial color gamut, which can be represented by three colors excluding black. An optimum black colorant amount modeling section performs color prediction modeling to predict an optimum black colorant amount in a whole color gamut from plural sets of the typical color signal and the regulated black colorant amount. At this time, an extrapolation prediction from a color in a partial color gamut to a whole color gamut is performed to predict the optimum black colorant amount in which a natural color reproduction. By using the color prediction modeling, the optimum black colorant amount determining section determines a corresponding optimum black colorant amount from the L*a*b* of an input lattice point. a YMCK signal calculating section determines residual YMC and outputs a YMCK signal.

  • Patent number: 7199900
Abstract: An LUT1 preparation section 1 and an LUT2 preparation section 2 prepare an LUT1 and an LUT2 for producing linear output from first raw data or second raw data. Using the LUT1 and LUT2, an LUT1 conversion section 3 and an LUT2 inverse conversion section 4 convert CMYK of the first raw data and C?M?Y?K? of the second raw data into four color values adjusted, and an L matching LUT preparation section 5 prepares an L matching LUT so that the K value of the four color values adjusted becomes equal. A K preservation 4DLUT preparation section 6 prepares a K preservation 4DLUT from the four color values adjusted, the L matching LUT, and the Lab value of the first and second raw data. A 4DLUT reset section 7 resets some of data in the prepared K preservation 4DLUT, whereby partial calorimetric match is intended.
