  • Patent number: 5556527
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for forming a multilayer film, which comprises: applying a cationic electrocoating (A) and an intermediate coating (B) in this order, followed by heat-curing, applying thereon a coloring base coating (C) capable of forming a colored film having a value of N 7 to N 9 in Munsell's color system, applying, without curing the coloring base coating (C) applied above, an iridescent base coating (D) containing a scaly mica powder coated with titanium oxide, followed by preliminary drying at 50.degree.-100.degree. C., and applying a clear coating (E), followed by heating to subject the films of the coatings (C), (D) and (E) simultaneously to crosslinking and curing, wherein the coloring base coating (C) and the iridescent base coating (D) are each a thermosetting aqueous coating containing, as vehicle components, an acrylic resin emulsion (a), a urethane resin emulsion (b) and a crosslinking agent (c).

  • Patent number: 5504637
Abstract: A disk rotating device includes a stationary shaft having one end fixed to a casing, a minor shaft having one end fixed to the casing, a flange member located on one end face of the stationary shaft and being in contact with a contact portion of the minor shaft, a rotary member rotatably mounted around the stationary shaft and supporting a disk, a thrust plate fixed in the vicinity of an end face of the rotary member and being in contact with the flange member, and a motor having a motor stator provided in the casing and a motor rotor provided in the rotary member so as to rotate the disk together with the rotary member around the stationary shaft. A radial bearing groove is provided on at least one of an outer circumferential surface of the stationary shaft and an inner circumferential surface of the sleeve. An outer thrust bearing groove is provided on a surface of at least one of the flange member and the thrust plate, at which the flange member and the thrust plate are in contact with each other.

  • Patent number: 5344070
Abstract: A computer-controlled automotive air conditioning system comprises an air conditioning unit which, when operated, produces a conditioned air fed to a passenger room of the vehicle. An outside temperature sensor, an inside temperature sensor, a temperature setter switch, a solar radiation sensor and an intake air temperature sensor are arranged for issuing first, second, third, fourth and fifth information signals. A computer-installed control unit is employed for controlling operation of the air conditioning unit in accordance with the first, second, third, fourth and fifth information signals. The computer is operated under a fuzzy system theory so that the magnitude of at least one of the first, second, third, fourth and fifth information signals is divided into a predetermined number of fuzzy labels of membership function to derive a parameter for operation of the air conditioning unit.

  • Patent number: 5294317
Abstract: An oxygen generating electrode has on a conductive substrate a first layer of metallic platinum and tantalum oxide containing 80-99 mol% of Ta and 20-1 mol% of Pt, a second layer of iridium oxide and tantalum oxide containing 80-99.9 mol% of Ir and 20-0.1 mol% of Ta, and preferably a third layer of iridium oxide and tantalum oxide containing 40-79.9 mol% of Ir and 60-20.1 mol% of Ta. In another embodiment, the first layer consists of iridium oxide and tantalum oxide and contains 14-8.4 mol% of Ir and 86-91.6 mol% of Ta. The electrode, when used as an anode in electrolysis with concomitant oxygen generation, can be used for an extended period at a low bath voltage. It is adapted for electrolysis at a high current density of more than 100 A/cm.sup.2 since it maintains mechanical strength and has a long effective life. It experiences a minimal change of oxygen overvoltage with time.

  • Patent number: 5274519
Abstract: A magnetic recording apparatus includes an arm, an airvane, a regulating member, and an urging member. The arm has a head slider including a magnetic head at a free end thereof, and is moved by an actuator device between a scan position and a stop position. The arm scans a surface of a disk for reading and/or writing information thereon at the scan position. The head slider is elastically supported on the arm by a flexure. The airvane is disposed adjacent to the disk, and is urged to a first position in opposition to a direction of air flow generated by rotation of the disk. The airvane moves in response to air flow generated by rotation of the disk to a second position in the direction of the air flow. The regulating member is provided at a position corresponding to the stop position of the arm and connected with the airvane.
