  • Patent number: 8861954
Abstract: To, even when a transmission wavelength varies in each ONU and an optical amplifier gain depends on the wavelength in an OLT equipped with an optical amplifier, prevent the optical amplifier gain from varying in every ONU and thus prevent deterioration of a dynamic range. The OLT estimates a transmission wavelength of each ONU at the time of ONU registration, and retains a correspondence between an ONU identifier and the transmission wavelength. Moreover, for every burst, an injection current to the optical amplifier is adjusted based on a wavelength and optical amplifier characteristic database.

  • Patent number: 8705965
Abstract: There is a need to recover an ONU from a sleep state for communication with the PON before a specified sleep cancel time in a short period of time without degrading the band use efficiency. An OLT manages an electric state of each ONU connected to a PON. When at least one ONU is in sleep mode, the OLT transmits a grant to allocate a band for a sleep cancel report to the ONU. When the sleep-mode ONU requires communication, the ONU transmits the sleep cancel report to the OLT using the band for the sleep cancel report. When receiving the sleep cancel report, the OLT changes the managed ONU to a normal state and resumes the communication with the PON.

  • Patent number: 8522288
Abstract: The present invention provides an IP broadcasting system that can receive IP broadcasting videos over an IP multicast network. In the IP broadcasting system, a multicast group management apparatus for IP broadcasting that holds multicast group identifiers is connected via an IP multicast network over which IP broadcasting services are provided. When a user issues a request to switch an IP broadcasting channel from an IP broadcasting terminal, a query message including the requested IP broadcasting channel identifier is transmitted to a management apparatus. The IP broadcasting terminal receives a response message indicating the correspondence between the IP broadcasting channel identifier and a multicast group identifier, and transmits a video reception request message to a multicast group by using the received multicast group identifier.

  • Patent number: 8503891
Abstract: There is a need to provide a multirate burst mode receiver for an OLT to be capable of receiving a high-speed burst signal without the need for a special capability of an ONU in a PON system including a mix of ONUs at different transmission bit rates. A multirate burst mode receiver according to the invention includes a signal input discrimination section and a bit rate discrimination section. The signal input discrimination section detects an average amplitude to discriminate signal input. The bit rate discrimination section detects an envelope curve for a high-frequency component to discriminate a signal bit rate. Based on a discrimination result from the signal input discrimination section and the bit rate discrimination section, the multirate burst mode receiver switches a setting for an optical signal reception section and a serial-parallel converter corresponding to the reception bit rate.

  • Patent number: 8488965
Abstract: It is necessary to completely remove overlapping of signals between plural PONs in order to make the PONs coexist. Accordingly, it is required to share or intensively manage bandwidth use conditions over an optical fiber that serves as a common band between plural systems. Therefore, transmission clocks should be synchronized with high accuracy between plural systems. A reference clock is provided from an external device or a representative OLT to the entire systems to perform clock synchronization between plural systems, so that the overall systems are synchronized by synchronizing each OLT with the reference clock. A hierarchical management method is selected that manages ONUs under the control of each OLT by managing band use information arranged for each OLT with respect to an external device or a representative OLT for sharing of bandwidth use conditions between plural systems.

  • Patent number: 8281978
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electronic apparatus produced using a high-temperature lead-free solder alloy which makes it possible to form soldered joints having no variations in strength and which has an excellent balance between strength and solderability. The lead-free solder alloy is an alloy which is made of an element A and an element B and which has a composition composed of AmBn being a stable phase and the element B in an equilibrium state at room temperature. When the lead-free solder alloy is solidified by quenching, the element A is dissolved in a room-temperature stable phase of the element B so that a supersaturated solid solution is formed, and when melted for soldering and then solidified, the alloy returns to its equilibrium state and has a composition composed of the stable phase AmBn and the element B and therefore maintains strength due to the presence of the stable phase AmBn even when reheated to a soldering temperature.

  • Patent number: 8259751
Abstract: In the bandwidth-allocating method of the present invention for PON (: Passive Optical Network), a bandwidth is allocated from an optical line terminal to each optical network unit. The optical line terminal stores a bandwidth contract table for indicating a correspondence relationship between communication flow IDs and service quality parameters, each communication flow ID identifying each communication flow between the optical line terminal and each optical network unit. The bandwidth-allocating method includes a step of transmitting a service-quality request message including the communication flow IDs and the service quality parameters from each optical network unit to the optical line terminal, and a step of the optical line terminal's updating the bandwidth contract table based on the service quality parameters, and performing the bandwidth allocation to a communication flow specified by the corresponding communication flow ID based on the bandwidth contract table.

  • Patent number: 8254292
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for implementing a storage function in a passive optical network (PON) system. On the basis of a LINK ID held by the data, data requiring storage, e.g. data making exclusive use of a wide bandwidth such as audiovisual data and large-volume data packages, are determined among all the data sent to an optical network unit. These data requiring storage are stored in a storage device installed in the optical network unit. In case the user requests data stored in the storage device, the stored data are transferred directly to the user, without any need to request and send these data for the second time via an IPTV server and the core network. It is possible to avoid duplicate transfers of data, and in particular to avoid duplicate transfers of data making exclusive use of a comparatively wide bandwidth such as audiovisual data and large-volume data packages, to improve the utilization factor of the downlink bandwidth, and to reduce flow congestion and data delays.
