  • Patent number: 6755180
Abstract: A chamfering portion provided at an inlet corner of a port of an inside way-out in a governor shaft is effective to decrease energy loss of fuel flowing into the inside way-out to less than one half in comparison with that of a conventional art. A flow amount characteristic of the fuel into the inside way-out improves so that a hysteresis between a pump chamber pressure decrease characteristic on increasing a load (a retarding characteristic) and a pump chamber pressure increase characteristic on decreasing the load (an advancing characteristic) is lowered, resulting in securing a highly accurate control of fuel injection timing.

  • Patent number: 6634812
Abstract: An optical bus system comprising an optical bus is furnished, along two opposed edges, with a plurality of signal light input/output portions for inputting and outputting signal light to and from the bus. Any one of the signal light input/output portions on one edge of the bus inputs signal light thereto and propagates the light to the opposite edge at which another signal light input/output portion outputs the propagated signal light from the bus. The system also comprises a plurality of light emitting/receiving circuits corresponding to the signal light input/output portions. Each light emitting/receiving circuit has a signal light sending unit and a signal light receiving unit. The signal light sending unit generates signal light and sends the generated signal light into the optical bus through the corresponding signal light input/output portion. The signal light receiving unit acquires a received light signal upon receipt of the signal light output by the corresponding signal light input/output portion.

  • Publication number: 20030179657
Abstract: A magneto-optical disk apparatus (100) includes an optical pickup (101) and a magnetic head (113). The optical pickup (101) irradiates a magneto-optical recording medium (10) with a laser beam of such intensity that a part of a reproducing layer of the magneto-optical recording medium (10) is heated to a temperature over the compensation temperature. The magnetic head (113) applies to the magneto-optical recording medium (10) a DC magnetic field having intensity weaker than the intensity at which magnetization of a transition-metal-rich area in a part of the reproducing layer heated to a temperature over the compensation temperature is inverted. The optical pickup (101) detects a magneto-optical signal varying in intensity between two levels. As a result, a signal can be reproduced correctly from the magneto-optical recording medium (10) by a magnetic domain enlargement system.

  • Patent number: 6590836
Abstract: On a dielectric layer of SiN a reproduction layer, a non-magnetic layer of SiN and a recording layer of TbFeCo are formed to provide a magneto optical recording medium. The reproduction layer is formed of a first layer corresponding to a Gd layer, a second layer formed of GdFeCo and a third layer corresponding to a Gd layer. As such, the magneto optical recording medium, with the non-magnetic layer formed in contact with the reproduction layer, can prevent the non-magnetic layer from affecting the reproduction layer and thus prevent the reproduction layer from having a degraded characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6483783
Abstract: A magnetic head is configured of a core and a coil wound around the core and passing current through the coil in a variable direction allows the core to have an edge generating an alternating magnetic field Hex1 and another edge generating an alternating magnetic field Hex2. Alternating magnetic fields Hex1 and Hex2 are applied to the respective edges. Furthermore, a laser beam LB1 is directed such that its optical axis L01 matches the edge receiving the alternating magnetic field Hex1, and a laser beam LB2 is directed such that its optical axis L02 matches the edge receiving the alternating magnetic field Hex2. A first magneto-optical signal detected through the alternating magnetic field Hex1 and the laser beam LB1 and a second magneto-optical signal detected through the alternating magnetic field Hex2 and the laser beam LB2 are composited together.

  • Publication number: 20020048237
Abstract: There is provided an optical disk drive capable of appropriately effecting recording and reproducing operations without being affected by offset values and a laser output value, which are set at startup of the disk drive, even when changes have arisen in the internal temperature of the disk drive because of changes in ambient temperature. In an optical disk drive, a temperature sensor provided on a pickup measures a temperature. When changes in temperature are greater than a predetermined level, a focus offset value, a tracking offset value, and a value of laser output from the pickup are reset.

  • Publication number: 20010024342
Abstract: A magnetic head comprises a core having a first leg, a second leg and a third leg and a coil wound on the second leg of the core. An end of the second leg is formed by a first portion formed by two inclined surfaces and a second portion formed by a flat surface. When a current is fed to the coil, a magnetic field oblique to a magnetooptical recording medium is generated from the first portion of the second leg, and a magnetic field perpendicular to the magnetooptical recording medium is generated from the second portion. Consequently, a magnetic field perpendicular to the magnetooptical recording medium can be applied to the magnetooptical recording medium for recording a signal, while a magnetooptical field having a prescribed angle with respect to the in-plane direction of the magnetooptical recording medium can be applied to the magnetooptical recording medium for reproducing a signal.

  • Patent number: 6295253
Abstract: When recording a recorded signal consisting of “01011001110” in a magnetooptical recording medium, (1,1) corresponding to a domain of 2T is converted to (1,0,1), and (0,0) is converted to (0,1,0) in the recorded signal. In other words, the first “1” of (1,1) is converted to unit bits “1,0” and the first “0” of (0,0) is converted to unit bits “0,1”. Similarly, the first “1” of (1,1,1) corresponding to a domain of 3T is converted to unit bits “1,0”, and the second “1” is converted to unit bits “1,0”. “1” or “0” of the final unit bit is not converted but recorded as such. Consequently, a signal can be correctly reproduced by extension ally transferring domains having different domain lengths from a recording layer to a reproducing layer under the same reproducing conditions.
