  • Patent number: 6417266
Abstract: A process for producing aliphatic polyester wherein a crystallized aliphatic polyester prepolymer formed from an aliphatic dihydric alcohol and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and having a weight-average molecular weight of 2,000 to 100,000 is caused to undergo solid-phase polymerization in the presence of a volatile catalyst to make an aliphatic polyester having a weight-average molecular weight of 50,000 to 1,000,000. This process is more efficient than any prior process calling for a complicated step for catalyst removal, since it enables the removal of the catalyst from the reaction system during and/or after solid-phase polymerization. The polyester is comparable in stability to any aliphatic polyester having any catalyst removed therefrom.

  • Patent number: 6398431
Abstract: In a page-turning device for a printer, arms are provided at the ends of a support shaft, and a pair of rollers are fitted around a roller shaft that is located between the distal ends of arms. Springs are attached to the base ends of the arms to press the rollers against a medium to be printed. Depending on the width of the medium, the positions of adjustment brackets can be changed, such that the urging forces produced by the springs are adjusted, so as to control the pressing forces exerted by rollers, thereby assuring substantially uniform force application onto at least two locations of the page such that the page can be readily turned without inappropriate folding, bending or creasing.

  • Patent number: 6344761
Abstract: In a current comparison type latch, during a reset mode of the current comparison type latch where the clock signal is at the “L” level, transistors which are disposed along the current path extending from the high potential power supply line to the low potential power supply line are turned OFF while transistors which connect the high potential power supply line to two output terminals are turned ON, so as to bring the potential of each of the two output terminals to a logic level (the “H” level or the “L” level), thereby preventing a through current from flowing from the high potential power supply line to the low potential power supply line. Therefore, a high-speed and high-precision current comparison is made while reducing the through current during a reset mode.

  • Patent number: 6305361
Abstract: There is disclosed a leakage diagnosis of an evaporative system in an internal combustion engine, and more particularly there is disclosed an evaporative system in which a more accurate leakage diagnosis can be effected using a change in the pressure in the evaporative system, and such a diagnosis method is also disclosed. The evaporative system includes a gauge line having a gauge valve, which gauge line branches off from an evaporative gas line or an evaporative gas purge line, and communicates with a point upstream of an engine throttle valve or with the ambient atmosphere, a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure in the evaporative system, and a purge valve. A leakage diagnosis of this system is effected based on detected values of the pressure sensor obtained by opening and closing the purge valve and the gauge valve. Therefore, accurate results of the diagnosis can be obtained.
