  • Patent number: 7831551
Abstract: According to this invention, a computer system has a host computer, a first storage subsystem providing a first volume, a second storage subsystem providing a second volume for storing a copy of data stored in the first volume. The computer system stores copy configuration information including correspondence between the first volume and the second volume. The management computer transmits the data erasure request to the first storage subsystem upon reception of a first data erasure request for erasing the first volume. The first storage subsystem stops a copying process of data stored in the first volume to the second volume, transmits a second data erasure request for erasing the second volume to the second storage subsystem, and erases the data stored in the first volume. Thus, in the case of erasing data stored in a storage area, corresponding data stored in a destination storage area is also erased so that security risks can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100065613
Abstract: In a direction parallel to a direction 5 of ultrasonic vibrations imparted from an ultrasonic vibrator 1, the shape of a center portion 3a of a tool 3 and the shape of an end portion 3b of the tool 3 are changed such that the cross-sectional areas are different, whereby ultrasonic amplitudes 9 in a direction perpendicular to the direction 5 of ultrasonic vibrations are substantially equal. By this means, the difference in ultrasonic vibration between at the center portion 3a of the tool 3 and at the end portion 3b of the tool 3 can be eliminated or reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100044868
Abstract: A semiconductor device includes an external terminal, a plurality of first interconnections, an electrode, a conductor, and a second interconnection. The first interconnections are positioned below the external terminal. The electrode is positioned at the same level as the first interconnections and is electrically connected to the external terminal through the conductor. The second interconnection is positioned below the first interconnections and the electrode. The semiconductor device has a region where the shortest distance between an edge surface of the electrode and an edge surface of one of the first interconnections positioned most adjacent to the electrode is less than 0.11 times the total thickness of the conductor and the electrode. The second interconnection is positioned at a position different from that of the region in a thickness direction of the semiconductor device.

  • Publication number: 20100036872
Abstract: A data storage or management method is provided which allows both a content object-based access and a file-based access. A first request for storing a content object in accordance with the processing of an application program executed in a host is sent to an object archive control functionality executed in the host, an intermediate server, or a storage apparatus. The object archive control functionality generates an object identifier corresponding to the content object received in response to the first request, a directory name corresponding to the object identifier, and a plurality of file names corresponding to a plurality of fields contained in the content object. The storage apparatus stores a directory having the directory name and the plurality of files having the plurality of file names in accordance with the second request.

  • Publication number: 20090265924
Abstract: In an electronic component mounting apparatus including an electronic component mounting head for holding an electronic component and an up/down device for pressing the electronic component against a circuit board, the electronic component is pressed against the circuit board while ultrasonic vibrations are applied from an ultrasonic transducer of the electronic component mounting head to the electronic component via a component holding unit, so that the electronic component is mounted onto the circuit board. In the electronic component mounting apparatus, the electronic component is heated via the component holding unit by radiant heat from a heater fixed to the component holding unit in a noncontact state, so that even under the condition that the electrothermal heater is replaceably attached, characteristics of the ultrasonic vibrations applied to the electronic component can be maintained constant.

  • Publication number: 20090216973
Abstract: To prevent, when data is erased from a storage system that stores differential of updated data, a large amount of differential data from being created, a storage subsystem provides a first storage area which stores data, and includes a second storage area which stores a replication of data stored in the first storage area. When the data stored in the first storage area is updated, the data is replicated to the second storage area before the data is updated. When a request to erase the data stored in the first storage area is received, replication of unupdated data to the second storage area is suspended and the data stored in the first storage area is erased based on the request to erase the data.

  • Publication number: 20090083344
Abstract: Provided is a computer system, including: a computer; and a storage system coupled to the computer via a network. The computer includes: an interface coupled to the network, a processor coupled to the interface and a memory coupled to the processor. The storage system includes a plurality of volumes in which files are stored. The processor is configured to: decide duplicating files from among the files stored in the plurality of volumes as files to be consolidated; identify a plurality of volumes in which the files to be consolidated are stored; select at least one volume from among the identified plurality of volumes as a consolidation volume based on loads imposed on the identified plurality of volumes; and delete the files to be consolidated stored in the volumes that are not selected. Accordingly, in data de-duplication, it is possible to avoid extra loads from centralizing in a high-load-bearing volume.

  • Publication number: 20090063797
Abstract: A computer system comprises a storage subsystem, a host computer and a management computer, and stores catalogue information containing correspondence between a first volume for data reading or writing and a second volume for storing a copy of the data stored in the first volume. The management computer requests the storage subsystem to erase the data stored in the first volume upon reception of an erasure request of the data stored in the first volume. The storage subsystem erases the data stored in the first volume. The management computer specifies a second volume for storing the copy of the data stored in the first volume based on the catalogue information. The storage subsystem erases data stored in the specified second volume. Thus, security risks are reduced by erasing data regarding the data when the data stored in the volume is erased.

  • Publication number: 20080215843
Abstract: The load of managing a storage system is lessened. In a storage system where multiple logical volumes are included in a logical volume group and a copy of the logical volume group is made in a pool area different from the one to which the logical volume group belongs, a management computer adds to the pool area capacity when the capacity of a pool area exceeds a predetermined threshold. When the pool area includes multiple logical volume groups, the management computer requests the storage system to create a pool area for each of the logical volume groups and to create the logical volume groups respectively for the created pool areas. When the pool area includes one logical volume group, the management computer requests the storage system to make the capacity of the pool area coincide with the capacity of a pool area to which the logical volume group is copied.
