  • Patent number: 5410381
Abstract: A camera having a finder, capable of photographing a first size and a second size, comprises a field frame for the first size, which is provided in front of an eye piece of said finder, and a field frame plate for the second size, which is provided in a manner to be movable between an objective lens and the eye piece of said finder and is formed with display portions for displaying portions other than a field frame and shielding portions. A field frame plate change-over mechanism retracts the field frame plate for the second size out of the optical path of the finder during the photographing of the first size, and disposes the field frame for the second size in the optical path of the finder between the objective lens and the eye piece during the photographing of the second size. This field frame plate shields the field frame for the first size by shielding portions of the field frame plate for the second size.

  • Patent number: 5402208
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a reading unit for reading an original image, and a recording unit for recording an image. A control unit is also provided which controls the relative timing between the operations of the reading unit and the recording unit. The operation of the control unit enables the apparatus to perform a reading operation in a first mode, in which the reading unit reads an original image without the recording unit performing a recording operation, in parallel with a recording operation in a second mode, in which a different original image, read by the reading unit, is recorded by the recording unit, such that vibrations caused by either the reading operation in the first mode or the recording operation in the second mode do not affect the other operation. As a result of the structure of the apparatus, an advantageous feature can be attained in which the timing of a writing operation is controlled in accordance with the movement of the reading scanner.

  • Patent number: 5400250
Abstract: A rear wheel is provided with a steering characteristic such that a vehicle runs on a cornering path with a longitudinal center line of the vehicle substantially aligned with a tangential line of the cornering path throughout cornering movement. A fail judge device is provided for judging when a rear wheel steering device failure is present in light of a criterion based on a rear wheel steering. A criterion change device is also provided for changing the criterion between a transitional cornering condition, in which the vehicle is in an initial stage of a cornering movement just after a steering operation and before a cornering force acting on the vehicle body reaches a substantial value, and a steady cornering condition, in which the cornering force has reached the substantial value. A reverse phase control can be properly performed without failure judgment. This assures that a desirable driving feeling is provided for the driver when cornering as well as improved safety.

  • Patent number: 5341294
Abstract: In a four wheel steering system, the rear wheel turning mechanism is connected to the front wheel turning mechanism by way of a rear wheel turning angle ratio changing mechanism which is mechanically connected to both the front wheel turning mechanism and the rear wheel turning mechanism and transmits the mechanical displacement input thereinto from the front wheel turning mechanism to the rear wheel turning mechanism to drive the same by an amount the ratio of which to the amount of mechanical displacement input into the rear wheel turning angle ratio changing mechanism gives a predetermined rear wheel turning angle ratio. The rear wheel turning angle ratio changing mechanism is controlled in such a way that, when the front wheels are turned from the neutral position in a middle vehicle speed range, makes the rear wheel turning angle ratio negative for a moment immediately after initiation of turning of the front wheels and thereafter turns the same positive.

  • Patent number: 5239324
Abstract: An underwater housing has a housing body of which a bottom is open and a lid is fitted to the bottom opening in watertight fashion. A manually operable dial is rotatably mounted on an upper side of the housing body in such a manner that a portion of the manually operable dial projects from a rear side of the housing body. A driving gear is formed on a lower side of the manually operable dial, and is in mesh with a driven gear. Within the housing body, a coupling gear is formed coaxially on the driven gear. When the manually operable dial is rotated in a first direction, the coupling gear is rotated in a second direction, and causes a wind-up dial of a camera to rotate in turn in the first direction, that is, in the same direction as the manually operable dial. The manually operable dial is prevented from rotating in the second direction by a reverse-rotation-preventing member.
