  • Patent number: 6607322
Abstract: A printer unit 20 has a base frame 24 and a moving frame 26 supported thereon for rotation relative thereto so that the upper part of the moving frame can be inclined to the front of an installation-type transaction device. The moving frame 26 is provided with a bearing member 40 that supports a shaft of the rolled paper, a print mechanism section 46, an edge of paper insertion slot 44 for introducing the rolled-paper end into the print section, and an edge of paper discharge port 50a. The bearing member 40 has a rolled-paper-shaft acceptance port 40b that is opened to the rear of the moving frame, and the edge of paper insertion slot 44 is oriented to the rear of the moving frame. At maintenance and inspection time, the moving frame 26 is inclined forward, whereby the shaft acceptance port 40b and the edge of paper insertion slot 44 are oriented to the worker.

  • Patent number: 6602008
Abstract: A print-medium transport unit including discharge rollers, a paper guide, and a lock member. The discharge rollers transport post-printed paper toward an outlet and can hold the leading end of the paper. The paper guide is placed upstream from the discharge rollers, and guides the leading end of the paper into the discharge rollers. The paper guide is rotatably supported so that the upstream side thereof opens a transport path of the paper, whereby when the leading end of the paper is held by the discharge rollers, the transport path allows the paper to be curved like a loop. The lock member locks the rotation of the paper guide when the leading end of the paper is guided into the paper guide. When the leading end of the paper reaches a predetermined position, the locking of the lock member is released.

  • Patent number: 6542642
Abstract: An image processor codes image data utilizing a first memory which stores a reference image in a forward direction, a second memory which stores a reference image in a backward direction, and a third memory which stores an expanded reference image of the reference image stored in the first memory. A first motion vector detector detects a motion vector by reading image data stored in the first memory, and a second motion vector detector detects a motion vector by selectively reading image data stored in the second and third memory. A coder codes input image data by motion compensation prediction using a motion vector detected by the first or second motion vector detector.

  • Patent number: 6367731
Abstract: A roll paper pulling load-buffering device enables smooth roll paper transportation and minimizes the space required for its installation in the printer. The load-buffering device has an arm 22a that moves a specified angle around the shaft 24 on which the roll paper turns. A roller 23 extends widthwise to the roll paper from the arm 22a at a point offset from the outside diameter of the roll. Paper pulled off the roll is draped around this roller 23. When a transportation roller is driven to advance paper from the roll by pulling from the end of the roll, tension applied to the paper causes the arm 22a to turn in one direction by way of the intervening roller 23. An urging means 25 such as a spring then urges the roller 23 and arm 22a in the opposite direction, maintaining even tension on both sides of the roller 23 and thereby enabling smooth roll paper transportation.

  • Patent number: 6276848
Abstract: A thermal printer for a portable electronic device such as a receipt issuing machine is capable of increasing an angle at which thermal recording paper is wound on a platen roller while decreasing running load and without generating static electricity. The thermal printer includes a body frame formed from metal, a thermal head disposed on a bottom part of the body frame for printing paper and a platen roller for urging the paper against the thermal head. A paper guide for guiding the paper to a direction in which the paper is wound on the platen roller is integrally formed with the body frame. A bend-raise portion extending in a paper-width direction of the paper and contacting linearly to the paper while feeding is integrally formed at a part of the paper guide where the paper is inserted. The paper guide is formed in such a manner that it comes close to the platen roller with respect to the bottom of the body frame.

  • Patent number: 5572242
Abstract: A highly reliable ink-jet printer or printing mechanism capable of consistent ink discharge in an on-demand type ink-jet printer. The printing mechanism is equipped with an ink-jet head having a plurality of ink nozzles that discharge ink drops and pressure generating elements corresponding to the nozzles, for applying pressure to the ink therein. A timer measures a preselected time period and a recovery processor controls recovery operations for each nozzle. The recovery operations are executed at prescribed time intervals during non-operation of the ink-jet head based on timer output. The recovery processor performs recovery processing when the power source is powered on. Further, an automatic power disconnection is performed when the number of consecutive recovery performed in response to the output of the timer reaches a prescribed maximum number.
