  • Patent number: 5301145
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recording and reading information in a recording medium comprising a thin film of an organic compound having polymorphisms. The free energy of each polymorphism is different with each other. Information is recorded in the recording medium by applying energy to the recording medium and transferring locally the polymorphism of the organic compound to another polymorphism of the organic compound. The amount of the energy corresponds to the difference in free energy between the polymorphisms. Information is read from the recording medium by optically discriminating between the optical absorption properties of the polymorphisms.

  • Patent number: 5218448
Abstract: A signal reproducing apparatus reproduces a video signal from a recording medium in which a first modulation signal has a video signal frequency-modulated at carrier frequency fc and a second modulation wave has a second signal modulated in a lower frequency region than the frequency fc. A frequency demodulation circuit for frequency-demodulates a first modulation wave and subtracts the cross modulation interference generated in the demodulation signal depending on the output from a detecting circuit. A first filter separates the second modulation wave from the reproduced signal. A detecting circuit detects the cross modulation interference component remaining in the demodulation signal in a specified period from the output signal of the first filter and the output of the demodulation circuit.

  • Patent number: 5025329
Abstract: A device is provided for electronically editing and recording new signals on recorded tracks on a recording medium. Reproduction is started from the track just before an editing point and a magnetic head mounted on an electro-mechanical converting element traces the curvature of the reproducing track. A deviation amount of the electro-mechanical converting element upon reproduction of the track just before the editing point is detected by a strain detecting sensor mounted on the electro-mechanical converting element. The detection signal is sampled at a plurality of sample points and stored in a memory circuit. When the head reaches the editing point, the head is set into the recording mode.

  • Patent number: 4884151
Abstract: A video recording and reproducing apparatus with photoelectric image camera in which a color signal processing circuit of a recording system is simplified. For recording, a luminance signal and a chrominance signal are produced in accordance with an image being picked up through a photoelectric transducer. The luminance signal is angle-modulated, while a carrier signal having a lower frequency than the standard carrier signal is directly modulated with the chrominance signal, whereby a chrominance recording signal equivalent to a signal obtained by a frequency conversion of the standard carrier signal to a low frequency band is obtained and added with the angle-modulated luminance signal to be recorded. Upon reproduction, the angle-modulated luminance signal undergoes angle-demodulation to be converted to a reproduced luminance signal, while the color (chrominance) recording signal is frequency-converted to a high frequency band to be reproduced color signal.

  • Patent number: 4764822
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cue signal recording method in which multi-audio tracks are formed by dividing a magnetic tape in a widthwise direction, and PCM data is recorded in a scanning track segment of an audio track of the multi-audio tracks by a helically scanning rotary head. • Patent number: 4656536
Abstract: In a helical-scan tape recorder, a digital signal having a series of M identification words of N bits each is generated. One of the N-bit words is a discrimination word identifying a particular combination of the other N-bit words. The M words are organized into J groups of I words each (where J.times.I=M) and recorded with an information signal at spaced intervals within each of a series of sectors defined along each track of a recording tape so that the word groups are interleaved with the information signal and each of the recorded sub-blocks can be traced substantially simultaneously by a transducer head during a search mode. At least one of the word groups includes data bits identifying distinct, but mutually closely related items of information and discrimination bits which identify the data bits. During search mode, distribution bits can be detected with the data bits of the same word group to allow the closely related items of information to be displayed.

  • Patent number: 4555735
Abstract: A system for interconnecting with a single coaxial cable between an image pickup device such as a color television camera and a recording device such as a video tape recorder is provided. The camera signal is separated into the luminance signal which in turn is frequency modulated and two color signals which in turn are converted at a low frequency band lower than the lower sideband of the FM luminance signal. The FM luminance signal and the modulated color signal are multiplexed with the audio signal at the base band and transmitted on a single coaxial cable to the recording device. In the case of the high-density recording without the guard bands between the adjacent tracks, there is provided a means for maintaining the one-to-one correspondence between the rotating recording head and the processing of the modulated color signal which is varied for each track.
