  • Patent number: 5492394
Abstract: The invention is directed to a hydraulic braking system having a master cylinder (10) in which a first piston and a second piston are slidably disposed to define a first pressure chamber (11) and a second pressure chamber (12). A valve device (24) is provided between the first pressure chamber and a reservoir (20). A first pressure control device (30, 31) is provided between the first pressure chamber and wheel cylinders (38, 39), and a second pressure control device (32, 33) is provided between the second pressure chamber and wheel cylinders (40, 41). A pump (27) is provided in a passage connecting the reservoir and the first pressure control device, and driven to supply a brake pressure from the former to the latter.

  • Patent number: 5178442
Abstract: A brake pressure control apparatus having a master cylinder, a front wheel cylinder and a rear wheel cylinder is provided with a brake circuit for connecting the master cylinder to the front wheel cylinder, a normally open valve unit arranged in series with respect to the brake circuit, a return circuit arranged in parallel with respect to the brake circuit, a normally closed valve unit installed in the return circuit, a reservoir unit installed in the return circuit and a pump unit installed in the return circuit. A controlling unit is provided for controlling the operations of the normally open valve unit, the normally closed valve unit and the pump unit so as to regulate the brake pressure. A cut off valve unit is interconnected between the master cylinder and the rear wheel cylinder for cutting off the rear wheel cylinder from the master cylinder while the controlling unit regulates the brake pressure.

  • Patent number: 5143428
Abstract: An anti-lock brake system is arranged such that the recirculation line from the overflow reservoir feeds into one of the brake lines downstream of the lines dividing point. A constriction, which may take the form of a simple nozzle is positioned between the recirculation line junction and the brake line dividing point for reducing the coupling of pressure fluctuations between the brake lines when the anti-lock system is actuated. With this arrangement, even upon the occurrence of sharp pressure fluctuations in one of the brake lines due to actuation of the anti-lock function, the pressure of the other brake line is not affected thereby allowing proper controlled braking in each wheel.

  • Patent number: 4989924
Abstract: A fluid pressure circuit is provided in which two independent systems are provided with a pressure generator for supplying pressure through each of the circuits so as to operate the brake system of a vehicle in an antiskid mode. The fluid pressure circuits have a phase difference of a half a period with respect to each other so as to provide for a continuous pressure to each of the brake systems of the independent fluid pressure systems. By providing such an arrangement, pulsation effects of each independent system are reduced without adversely influencing the pressure generator apparatus and while decreasing the noise associated with the operation of the fluid pressure system under such operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 4936637
Abstract: An anti-skid apparatus for installation in a vehicle braking system having a master cylinder, a wheel brake cylinder and a primary fluid passage connecting these cylinders includes a changeover valve disposed in the primary fluid passage to selectively communicate the wheel brake cylinder with the master cylinder or with a reservoir, and a fluid pump for pumping a brake fluid from the reservoir and returning it to a portion of the primary fluid passage between the master cylinder and the changeover valve. The anti-skid apparatus further includes a control valve disposed in that portion of the primary fluid passage. The control valve comprises a piston slidably disposed in a housing, and a valve member slidably disposed in the piston and seatable on a valve seat with a cutout formed thereon. The control valve allows a flow of the brake fluid from the master cylinder and/or the fluid pump to the wheel brake cylinder through the changeover valve without restriction in normal braking operation.
