Abstract: The present invention provides a disc drive apparatus capable of identifying a disc (12 cm) having a small data area (8 cm) in central as same as an ordinary 12 cm disc. The apparatus having a light receiving unit 105b and a push switch 106b The unit 105b is arranged in a position where the unit 105b detects the disc having the small data area in central when the switch 106b detects the same, and where the unit 105b does not detect a disc (12 cm) having a hole (8 cm) in central when the 106b detects the same. The apparatus also has an disc identifier for identifying type of the disc based on the detected results of the light receiving units and/or the push switches.

When the holder is moved to the reproducing/recording position, the holding pin provided on the holder engages with a shutter closing spring so as to retract an engaging part at the front end of the shutter closing spring through an opening in the holder in order to prevent the disc cartridge from making contact with the shutter closing spring, thereby making it possible to give a satisfactory feeling of insertion of the disc cartridge and avoid damaging the disc cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5748606
Abstract: A disc player device includes a tray transfer mechanism for transferring a tray, supporting a disc thereon, from a magazine, a clamper for holding the disc, and a clamper drive mechanism for transferring the clamper to a turntable. The disc is held by the turntable with the clamper transfer mechanism held out of contact with the clamper, and in this condition a playback of the disc is carried out. After the playback of the disc is finished, the disc is again clamped, and is returned to a predetermined position by the clamper transfer mechanism. The tray transfer mechanism, the clamper, the clamper drive mechanism are driven by a common motor.

  • Patent number: 5696746
Abstract: A disk apparatus is disclosed. A movable chassis assembly having a turntable and a pickup head is detachably supported on elastic members by a stationary chassis assembly with the lock mechanism of the stationary chassis assembly engaged with lock pins disposed on the movable chassis. A holder located on the movable chassis assembly for holding a disk cartridge to load or eject the disk cartridge is transported by a loader located on the stationary chassis assembly in a predetermined transport direction. Pin driving means located in the loader disengages lock pins when the lock mechanism is touched by the pin driving means at the end of the loading operation of the disk cartridge. A pair of pivoting cross links are connected at their crossings by a support pin that is engaged with a first guide slot in the stationary chassis assembly. One end of each of the pair of cross links is slidably engaged with a guide slot in the loader.

  • Patent number: 5255255
Abstract: There is disclosed a disk loading device capable of transferring a disk without damaging a face of the disk. The disk loading device includes a roller movement mechanism for moving a roller toward and away from a path of transfer of the disk, and a roller drive mechanism for rotating the roller. The roller is brought by the roller movement mechanism into contact with an outer peripheral surface of the inserted disk, so that the disk is transferred by the rotational drive force of the rotating roller in a predetermined direction. For discharging the disk, the outer peripheral surface of the disk is urged by an eject mechanism operatively connected to the roller drive mechanism, so that the disk is ejected.
