  • Publication number: 20060221210
Abstract: This invention prevents quality deterioration and positional shift of OSD when an image and the OSD are to be together displayed by LB display. An image processing apparatus having a function of superposing a second image on a first image includes a converter (103) which converts the length-to-breadth ratio of at least the first image, a first superposing unit (101) which superposes the second image on the first image before the length-to-breadth ratio is converted by the converter (103), and a second superposing unit (105) which superposes the second image on the first image after the length-to-breadth ratio is converted by the converter (103).

  • Publication number: 20050253950
Abstract: This invention can reduce the circuit scale by synthesizing OSD data to be superposed on a picture of each resolution by using common OSD data. According to this invention, a video resolution converter converts an HD (High Definition) video signal into an SD (Standard Definition) video signal such as an NTSC or PAL video signal. A memory controller receives a sync signal identical to an SD picture obtained by frequency-dividing an HD video signal, and a sync signal based on an SD video signal, and reads out OSD data (4 bits per pixel) from the memory on the basis of these sync signals. The OSD data read out on the basis of the SD video signal is synthesized with the SD video signal by an SD_OSD_MIX unit, and then output. The OSD data read out on the basis of the SD sync signal synchronized with the HD is multiplied by an integer by an OSD resolution converter, synthesized with an HD video signal by an HD_OSD_MIX unit, and then output.

  • Patent number: 5721835
Abstract: It is made possible to maintain the security of one electronic device to which a plurality of other electronic devices are capable of being connected. To accomplish this, a notebook-type personal computer has an internal ROM storing ID information specific to this personal computer. The notebook-type personal computer is folded up and inserted into a docking station through an insertion port so as to be electrically connected to the docking station and rendered capable of executing processing that utilizes the resources of the docking station. The docking station has an internal non-volatile memory storing the IDs of notebook-type personal computers that are allowed to use the docking station. When a notebook-type personal computer is inserted into and connected with the docking station, use of the docking station is not allowed if the ID of this notebook-type personal computer has not been stored in the docking station.

  • Patent number: 5671366
Abstract: An operating system is constructed, and optimized in a given environment, for use in an image processing system that includes a first electronic device capable of operating independently and having a standard input/output unit, and a second electronic device which, when the first electronic device has been connected thereto, extends the functionality of the first electronic device and is capable of being used instead of the standard input/output unit to perform operations. To accomplish this, a foldable notebook-type personal computer is folded up and inserted into a docking station through an insertion port so as to be electrically connected to the docking station. The notebook-type personal computer has a CPU for sensing the resources of the personal computer and the resources of the docking station and starting up the operating system upon selecting the optimum resources sensed.
