  • Patent number: 5309942
Abstract: An inexpensive timer unit which can operate stably in the event of a power failure. The timer unit acts to switch the operation times of two valve mechanisms for opening and closing fluid passages. The unit comprises a rotatable windup shaft, a torsion coil spring, an eddy-current-generating governor mechanism, and two cams. Energy is stored in the spring by rotating the windup shift through a given angle so as to tighten the spring. The speed of rotation of the windup shaft when the tightened spring is released is adjusted by the governor mechanism. At this time, the rotation of the windup shaft is transmitted to the cams. The profiles of the cams are determined according to the operation times of the valve mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5311494
Abstract: An overwritable optical disk apparatus in which a finite conjugate optical system is employed. The apparatus comprises an optical head for converging diffused light from a light source onto an optical disk for performing data write/read operation, a driving unit for rotating the disk and a beam splitter for guiding the light reflected from the optical disk to a photodetector for detecting light reflected from the optical disk. Influence of disk displacement occurring in accompanying the rotation of the disk and disk eccentricity are suppressed to a minimum by encasing rotatably the optical disk within a credit card size casing which is adapted to be loaded and held stationarily in the optical disk apparatus. Thin structure of the optical head and miniaturization of the optical disk apparatus are realized with light utilization efficiency for data write/read operation being increased.

  • Patent number: 5311587
Abstract: A sensor circuit for telephone line includes a detection coil (52) inserted in a telephone line (22). The coil generates a magnetic flux according to a line current which flows in the telephone line. A magnetic sensor (54) such as a Hall element generates a voltage signal in response to the magnetic flux. An output of the magnetic sensor is applied to a comparing circuit (58) and a tone deriving circuit (60) via an amplifier (56). The comparing circuit includes two comparators one of which compares the voltage signal from the magnetic sensor with a first reference voltage (V1) and the other of which compares the output signal with a second reference voltage (V2), so that a line current supervisory signal is outputted from the comparing circuit. The tone deriving circuit includes a band-pass filter and derives a tone signal from the voltage signal of the magnetic sensor.

  • Patent number: 5309845
Abstract: A substructure of the body of a vehicle such as a railroad car is formed by linking first and second beams with each other. The first beams are formed of first and second members each having locking grooves, and the second beams are arranged at intervals perpendicular to the first beams, thus realizing, for example a thin-walled substructure. By virtue of the locking grooves formed thereon, the first members allow the attachment of seats or the like, and the second members allow the suspension of underfloor equipment.

  • Patent number: 5310270
Abstract: A dot impact type serial printer is provided with a print head which has a plurality of print wires for printing an image. The print wires required to print a particular image are thrust toward a platen successively upon receiving a print timing signal, where each print timing signal is delayed from the previous print timing signal by a predetermined time interval t. The delay of each print timing signal is based on the time required for a surface wave, caused by the impact of print wires on the platen, to pass lengthwise across the platen and is selected to be less than one-half the surface wave travel time.
