  • Patent number: 5311606
Abstract: In an optical filter to be used for signal selection, removal of noise, equalizing the wavelength of signal light, etc. in an optical communication system, optical measurement device or the like, and in an optical amplifier employing such optical filter, signal light is dispersed at different angles according to each wavelength by a diffraction grating and the dispersed light is selectively transmitted or reflected by a transmission type spatial filter or reflection type spatial filter, and is then coupled with an output fiber bundle as non-dispersed light by the diffraction grating. Thus, the optical filter has variable wavelength pass band characteristics and the optical amplifier possesses a uniform wavelength amplification factor.

  • Patent number: 5309882
Abstract: A control system for the ignition system of an internal combustion engine for providing faster idle speed when the engine is at a low temperature by advancing the spark timing. A first temperature sensor which senses actual temperature is mounted in the engine ignition control circuit which is, in turn, mounted in proximity to the engine so as to approximate its temperature. A on/off temperature switch is mounted directly in the engine so as to sense when engine temperature is above a predetermined value. The system is operative to provide ignition control by the actual engine temperature unless the second on/off switch is turned on to indicate that the engine temperature has not returned ambient temperature after a running period. If the engine temperature switch is on, normal ignition timing is employed.

  • Patent number: 5308053
Abstract: A rotatable cassette-type paper feeding apparatus includes a tray, a turning member mounted rotatably on the tray. A first rotating device is used for rotating the turning member, a plurality of paper cassettes installed rotatably on the turning member. A second rotating device is used for rotating the paper cassette in a paper feeding side, and a controller which controls the first rotating device to interchange the paper cassettes in the paper feeding side and in the non-paper-feeding side and which controls the second rotating device to switch the position of the paper cassette in the paper feeding side between sideways and lengthways. This structure achieves a compact rotatable cassette-type paper feeding apparatus capable of storing sheets of paper of various sizes and of feeding the paper sheets both sideways and lengthways by switching their positions.

  • Patent number: 5307652
Abstract: A scoop-up portion of scoop means is of a flat plate shape so that water is drained by letting a wash rest on the scoop portion during the transferring operation. The wash is scooped surely in raise/drop washing so that the wash is not caught between the inner peripheral surface and one edge of the scoop-up portion. Also, an auxiliary plate is installed on the back surface of transfer portion of the scoop means to prevent the wash from dropping into the preceding vessel in raise/drop washing. Thus, the crumple washing and beat washing are performed efficiently, and cleanliness is improved.

  • Patent number: 5307473
Abstract: In allocating an area of a cache memory to each storage unit, proper allocation of the cache memory is made to each storage unit. If the amount of write-after data becomes equal to or more than a threshold value, an allocation limit is set to each disk unit. If CPU issues a data write request requiring the amount of data equal to or more than the allocation limit, the data write request is held in a wait state until the amount of write-after data becomes less than the allocation limit. Therefore, the allocation amount to the disk unit becomes neither too large nor too small. In this manner, proper allocation of the cache memory to each disk unit can be realized.

  • Patent number: 5307109
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for processing silver salt photosensitive material with a small amount of processing solution. The processing solution uniformly reacts with the photosensitive material for maintaining high processing quality. The apparatus of the invention includes: a process tank 96 which is relatively small in volume; and a developer supply roller 98 which is partly soaked in the processing solution. New or unused developer is temporarily stored in a temporary reservoir 100 formed on the circumference of the roller, held in pores of sponge formed on the surface of the developer supply roller, and supplied to an inlet of photosensitive material PM in the process tank 96 with rotation of the roller 98. The new processing solution is uniformly diffused, along the width of the photosensitive material PM, in the vicinity of the inlet in the stored processing solution. Accordingly, the photosensitive material PM is evenly and efficiently processed.
