  • Patent number: 7892192
Abstract: A massaging device having an applicator driven by a plurality of driving unit to move along two or more different axes to generate a combined massaging action to be applied to the user's body. A controller holds individual speed data each defining a speed at which each of the driving units reciprocates the applicator along each of the different axes, and to control the driving units to reciprocate the applicator in accordance with the associated speed data. The controller controls the speed of the applicator along one of the axes independently from the speed of the applicator moving along another of the axes. Accordingly, the applicator's movements along the different axes can be free from being interfered with each other even being subject to a load, thereby assuring to continue the combined massaging action.

  • Publication number: 20100303530
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer member onto which a image is primarily transferred from an image forming unit; a transfer unit to secondarily transfer the image from the intermediate transfer member to a media at a secondary-transfer position; a conveying unit configured to convey the media to the secondary-transfer position; and a conveying speed controller to control a speed of conveying the media. The conveying unit includes a first detector and a second detector downstream the first detector and upstream the secondary-transfer position. Based on a detection of the media by the first detector and a timing at which the image forming unit forms the image, the conveying speed controller changes the conveying speed until the second detector detects the media and changes, after the second detector detects the media, the conveying speed to a speed substantially the same as the intermediate transfer member speed.

  • Patent number: 7785524
Abstract: A CPU provides a fluorescent light detecting head with an irradiation instruction, in response to which the fluorescent light detecting head irradiates an ultraviolet ray for detection on an ultraviolet curing resin material to be examined. The CPU then acquires from the fluorescent light detecting head an intensity of a fluorescent light emitted from a photo polymerization initiator included in the ultraviolet curing resin material when receiving the ultraviolet ray for detection. The CPU retrieves a predetermined number of past data of the intensity of the fluorescent light from a storage unit and performs a (moving) average calculation processing to calculate the intensity of the fluorescent light at the current time. The CPU performs an estimation processing of a state of the ultraviolet curing resin material based on the calculated intensity of the fluorescent light.

  • Publication number: 20100203027
Abstract: An objective of the present invention is to provide safe viral vectors for gene therapy that can be introduced by a simple technique and sufficiently express genes of interest in vivo. The present inventors demonstrated that anti-tumor effect can be produced when a heparin-binding cytokine such as granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and a chemokine such as TARC or RANTES are expressed in vivo using a viral vector based on a negative-strand RNA virus. The present inventors also demonstrated that the protective effect of the vector is superior to that of conventional adenovirus vectors. Thus, the present invention relates to negative-strand RNA viral vectors comprising a cytokine gene and a chemokine gene. The viral vectors are suitable for treatment of cancers, in particular, metastatic cancers. The present invention also provides compositions comprising such viral vectors, and gene therapy methods using them.

  • Patent number: 7756429
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes at least one image forming section, which includes an image bearing body, a charging unit that charges an area on a surface of the image-bearing body, and a developing unit that supplies a developer material to the charged area to form a developer image on the image bearing body. The developer image is transferred from the image-bearing body onto a transporting unit. A detector detects a density of the developer image on the transporting unit. The controller performs a charging voltage correcting operation in which the controller provides a test charging voltage to the charging unit for forming the developer image, and then a normal charging voltage for normal printing is determined based on the density. The controller also performs a developer-supplying voltage correcting operation in which a developer-supplying voltage supplied to a developer supplying unit is determined based on the density.
