  • Patent number: 6579611
Abstract: A resin film for use in laminating for producing decorative laminates which is equal or superior to conventional polyvinyl chloride resins in suitability for embossing, processability, and long-term water resistance and can be significantly well-designed; and a decorative laminate in which the resin film has been laminated. The resin film is obtained by compounding a polyester resin with 0.5 to 60 wt. % crystallization accelerator having a particle diameter of 0.01 to 5 &mgr;m, forming the mixture into an unstretched film, and embossing at least one side of the film. The resin film is laminated to a metallic or wooden plate, a board, etc. to produce a decorative laminate.

  • Patent number: 6482526
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyester resin-covered metal sheet exhibiting superior formability and particularly suitable to withstand the stresses of drawing, drawing and ironing, drawing and stretch forming, or drawing and stretch forming followed by ironing. The resin-covered metal sheet is produced by contacting a biaxially oriented polyester resin film to a metal sheet heated above the melting temperature of the resin, covering the metal sheet with the polyester resin, pinching and press laminating the film-metal sheet composite, and cooling the laminate at a rate of 600° C./second immediately thereafter. It is essential that the resulting resin-covered metal sheets exhibit a true stress of 3.0 to 15.0 kg/mm2, corresponding to a true strain of 1.0 at 75° C. These laminates also exhibits a gradation of retention of the polyester resin's original biaxial orientation.

  • Patent number: 6393624
Abstract: A damping device for damping the relative rotation of a rotating member. The damping device includes a casing, a rotor disposed in an interior space of the casing, and a damping mechanism including a viscous liquid disposed in an annular chamber formed between the casing and the rotor. The viscous liquid exerts frictional forces to damp the relative rotation between the rotor and the casing in a first rotation direction but not in the opposite rotation direction, the damping force increasing when the rotor and the casing rotate relative to each other from a first relative angular position to a second relative angular position in the first rotation direction. The casing and the rotor are structure to provide a damping force by impeding the flow of the viscous liquid within the chamber, and to provide another damping force by the contacting of the rotor and the casing. A valve is further provided within the chamber to restrict the flow of the viscous liquid.

  • Patent number: 6270874
Abstract: The present invention produces a polyethylene terephthalate resin covered metal sheet having extremely excellent formability, which can be available for uses in which severe forming is practiced such as drawing, drawing and ironing and drawn and stretch forming as well as the composite forming consisting of drawn and stretch forming followed by ironing. A biaxially oriented film consisting of polyethylene terephthalate resin having a low temperature crystallization temperature ranging from 130° C. to 165° C. is covered at least on one side of a metal sheet by heat bonding in the way that the biaxial orientation of the film of the polyethylene terephthalate resin after being covered is gradually increasing from the contacting portion of the film to the metal sheet to the surface portion of the film.

  • Patent number: 6106658
Abstract: A method of producing a laminate board (10) involves the steps of heating a continuous belt-like metallic sheet (2) by a heating furnace (1), laminating a thermoplastic resin film (3) on at least one of the surfaces of the metallic sheet, pressing and passing both of them between a pair of laminate rolls (4 and 5), and thermally bonding the film (3) to the metallic sheet (2), wherein the laminate sheet (10) coming out from between the pair of laminate rolls (4 and 5) is pushed by a deflector roll (6) in a transverse direction so as to bias the travelling direction towards the laminate roll (4) in contact with the film (3). The invention also discloses an apparatus (A) used for his method.

  • Patent number: 5918855
Abstract: In an automatic faucet having a hand sensor S to start and stop discharging water automatically, only hands can be detected accurately without detecting a washbowl (chinaware) and water stream erroneously. The sensor S comprises a light emitter and a light receiver. The directional axis d of a detection region (in which the light emitting region of the light emitter and the light receiving region of the light receiver are overlapped with each other) intersects the discharged water stream, and further the intersection angle between both is adjusted less than 70 degrees, irrespective of the flow rate of the discharged water. The reflected light levels detected by the light receiver are sampled periodically to calculate an average value and a variance value on the basis of at least eight most updated sampled data. Water discharge is started and stopped on the basis of the calculated average value and the variance value.

  • Patent number: 4984666
Abstract: Braking of independently-movable pivotable members is carried out by independent one-way clutch mechanisms which provide minimal braking force to the pivotable members in the vicinity of the limit points of their pivotable movement, and provide optimal braking force in a middle range of pivotable movement. The braking mechanism provided may operate on one or both of the pivotable members at the same time, each of the independent clutch mechanisms providing suitable braking force to compensate for the mass of the respective pivotable members.
