  • Publication number: 20140270378
Abstract: When a pedestrian candidate and an animal candidate that are detected from an image imaged by an imaging device mounted in a vehicle are in a specified relationship in said image (such as existing nearby), the animal candidate is considered to be an item related to the pedestrian candidate, in other words, a pair object. Attention-arousing output directed at the animal candidate configuring the pair object is not generated. Therefore, a vehicle vicinity monitoring device is provided that reduces the frequency of attention-arousing directed at an animal (for ex-ample, a small animal such as a dog) being walked by a human.

  • Patent number: 8633832
Abstract: In a vehicle obstacle detecting apparatus having a radar that transmits a laser beam in front of the vehicle to scan in different detection regions in a horizontal direction parallel to a road and receives reflection waves reflected from an object successively, it is determined whether a high reflection wave such as that reflected from delineator installed on the road at regular intervals exists in the received reflection waves in the detection regions, and if not, an obstacle such as a human being is detected from a low reflection wave. On the other hand, when the high reflection wave exists, the obstacle is detected from a second reflection wave.

  • Publication number: 20140002295
Abstract: A roadside object present at the side of a subject vehicle travel path and a preceding vehicle at a speed equal to or greater than a predetermined speed are detected based on points derived by transmitting an electromagnetic beam forward of the subject vehicle and projecting reflection points obtained onto a two-dimensional plane, a determination is made when the preceding vehicle passes near the roadside object as to whether it moved toward the travel path within a predetermined time before and after the passage, and the roadside object is not determined to be the obstacle when it is determined to have moved toward the travel path, thereby preventing the roadside object from being misidentified as the obstacle owing to erroneous recognition of it having intruded into the travel path of the subject vehicle when detecting the object using an electromagnetic beam.

  • Publication number: 20130346410
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an information processing apparatus and method, a program, and a recording medium, in which a content is recommended to each user on the basis of even the metadata that is assigned with no classification. A metadata analysis block resolves metadata acquired by a metadata acquisition block into components. A dictionary data generation block generates dictionary data in which genre is correlated with keyword and each component. An associated-information database generation block references the dictionary data to assign genre to the metadata which are assigned with no genre, thereby generating an associated-information database of content. An associated-information search block references the dictionary data to identify a genre from a keyword of interest data to search for associated information, thereby recommending content to the user. The present invention is applicable to personal computers or HDD recorders.

  • Publication number: 20130343071
Abstract: A light distribution controller includes a pedestrian detection unit, a determination unit, and an illumination controller. The pedestrian detection unit detects a pedestrian in a predetermined area ahead of a vehicle on the basis of an image captured by an infrared camera. The determination unit determines whether a driver notices the pedestrian when the pedestrian detection unit has detected the pedestrian in the predetermined area, on the basis of whether a predetermined condition is satisfied. The illumination controller causes the headlight to be lit with a light distribution pattern without a restriction on illumination of the pedestrian until the determination unit determines that the driver notices the pedestrian, and causes the headlight to be lit with a light distribution pattern having a restriction on illumination of a body member including at least the eyes of the pedestrian after the determination unit determines that the driver notices the pedestrian.

  • Patent number: 8359322
Abstract: The present invention allows a program vector representing attributes of a program to be generated as follows. At a step S11, EPG data is received. At a step S12, meta data necessary for generation of a program vector PP is extracted from the EPG data. At a step S13, a morphological analysis is carried out on contents and title included in the meta data to disassemble the contents and the title into words. At a step S14, items included in the meta data are subjected to a vector creation process to generate the program vector PP. At a step S15, an effect vector is extracted on the basis of a genre of a program associated with the meta data. At a step S16, the extracted effect vector is associated with the generated program vector PP and the processing is ended. The present invention can be applied to a distribution server for distributing contents.

  • Publication number: 20130016856
Abstract: Disclosed is an audio device that plays back compressed audio signals that can be sufficiently comfortable to be audible even in a play back environment with improved acoustic quality. In order to correct a weak signal component near a frequency with a high output level of a compressed audio, weak-signal component adding unit (121) extracts a specific frequency region based on input audio signals, generates a weak-signal component composed of harmonics signals composed of a harmonic component and the like, and a noise signal and adds the generated weak-signal component to the input audio signal. In order to correct a high-frequency band output level from which compressed audio signals are omitted, high-frequency band audio adding unit (122) generates audio of a high-frequency band composed of a harmonic signal and a noise signal and adds the generated high-frequency band audio to the input audio signal.

  • Patent number: 8031107
Abstract: An object detection device for a vehicle includes a transmitting-receiving unit, a reflection point computation unit, an object width computation unit, a representative point setting unit, a lateral relative velocity computation unit, a memory unit, and a lateral relative velocity correction unit. The transmitting-receiving unit transmits an electromagnetic wave. The object width computation unit computes a width of the object. The lateral relative velocity computation unit computes a lateral relative velocity. The memory unit records the object as a width-widening static object when the object is a static object and an amount of increase in the width of the object is greater than a predetermined value, based on a detection history of the object detected at each of the predetermined cycle. The lateral relative velocity correction unit corrects the lateral relative velocity, when the object recorded as the width-widening static object is detected at a left end part or a right end part of a detection region.

  • Patent number: 7873798
Abstract: An information processing apparatus, an information processing method, a recording medium, and a program for generating preference information based on consecutively and inconsecutively viewed programs recommends the programs matching a user's preferences. A preference information extraction unit extracts program preference information based on metadata about programs and records a history of viewing of the programs. Preference information about a program that has been viewed for the first time is recorded as special program preference information. User preference information is generated on the basis of information about the preferred programs whose viewing count has exceeded a threshold value. A control unit automatically makes recording reservations of the programs whose viewing count has exceeded the threshold value.
