Abstract: Compounds of formula (I): ##STR1## A is a carbon-carbon bond or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylene; B is imino group or C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkylene; R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, heterocyclic or optionally substituted amino; R.sup.2 is optionally substituted phenyl or optionally substituted naphthyl; R.sup.3 is thiazolyl, isoxazolyl or imidazolyl; R.sup.4 is isopropyl or cyclohexyl; R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, or, together with the carbon atom to which they are attached, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl; R.sup.7 is hydrogen, optionally substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl group; and R.sup.8 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl. These compounds have renin-inhibitory and, hence, hypotensive activities. The invention also provides a method for the treatment or prophylaxis of hypertension induced by failures in the renin-angiotensin system.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sup.1 is a trifluoromethyl or a pentafluoroethyl;R.sup.2 is ##STR2## in which R.sup.4 is hydrogen; .alpha.-.beta. is a carbon-carbon single bond;and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, have antihypertensive activity and can thus be used for the treatment and prophylaxis of cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract: An apparatus for alerting a doctor which provides an alarm corresponding to a patient, and receives living body information signals transmitted through a transmitter. The apparatus alerts a doctor with a buzzer sound or a vibration indicating that the condition of the patient and of the living body information signals has changed suddenly. The apparatus includes a portable casing having a front plate, a rear plate, a top plate, a bottom plate, a left plate, and a right plate. The casing is provided with a circuit plate on which an electric circuit is mounted which receives and treats the living body information signals. Moreover, the apparatus is provided with a display portion provided on the casing and connected with the electric circuit. The wave form of at least an electrocardiogram signal included in the living body information signals is displayed on the display portion.

Abstract: Compounds of formula (I): ##STR1## in which: R.sup.1 is aryl or aromatic heterocyclic; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, phenyl, phenoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylthio, phenylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 haloalkyl, cyano or nitro, or together are alkylene optionally containing oxygen; R.sup.4 is hydrogen, aliphatic acyl, cycloalkylcarbonyl, cycloalkoxycarbonyl, aromatic acyl, alkoxycarbonyl or benzyloxycarbonyl; R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are alkyl; and X is oxygen, sulfur or methylene, have calcium channel blocking activity and can serve for the treatment or prophylaxis of cardiovascular diseases and disorders. They may be prepared by reacting a corresponding compound where R.sup.4 is hydrogen and the aminoethyl group is replaced by hydrogen with a compound providing the aminoethyl group and the, if required, acylating the product.

Abstract: 1,4-Dihydro-6-methyl-4-(substituted phenyl)pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid esters have an amino group at the 2-position and at least one nitrooxy group in at least one of the ester groups. These compounds have a variety of valuable activities, including antihypertensive and Ca.sup.++ -blocking activities, leading to their use for the treatment of circulatory and coronary disorders. They may be prepared by condensation of appropriate substituted acetic acid esters.

Abstract: A plastics shaping mold comprising a layer of hardened resin material fixedly superposed on a metal mold and defining an uneven shaping surface for forming an uneven surface pattern on plastic articles. The plastics shaping mold is prepared by a method comprising the steps of superposing a resin material in a fluid state on a master in sheet form defining an uneven surface inverse to the uneven shaping surface to be formed, allowing the resin material to harden and removing the master, thereby to form the layer of hardened resin material defining the uneven shaping surface.

These compounds have a variety of valuable activities, including antihypertensive and Ca.sup.++ -blocking activities, leading to their use for the treatment of circulatory and coronary disorders. They may be prepared by condensation of appropriate substituted benzylideneacetoacetic acid esters with appropriate amidinoacetic acid esters.
