  • Publication number: 20060174046
Abstract: A PC card slot device for an ExpressCard affords a smooth insertion of the ExpressCard into a slot for the PC card slot device, without the height of the slot being increased. A lower chassis ceiling wall defines the lower face side of a card storage space, and also includes a slot side edge that is formed of a rear-side inclined line portion and a slot-side inclined line portion. The rear-side inclined line portion and the slot-side inclined line portion are respectively inclined at angles ?1 and ?2, relative to a reference cross section. To insert the ExpressCard into the slot of the card storage space, the right corner of the right upper level lower face portion of the card is inserted into the card storage space and the front end of the right stepped portion of the card is guided along the inclined line portions.

  • Patent number: 6957885
Abstract: In an image output apparatus which can perform entire-surface printing and both-sided printing, if an instruction to print additional information together with an image is issued or printing of the additional information together with the image is set, it is determined whether to perform entire-surface printing or normal printing. In the case of entire-surface printing, the additional information is printed on the back surface while in the case of normal printing, the additional information is printed outside an image printing area. This makes it possible to print the additional information of an image to be printed and output at a position which does not overlap the image.

  • Publication number: 20050190412
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus that is capable of reading a transparent original and a reflective original, a navigation sheet (24) on which the content of transparent-original read processing has been entered and a film guide (25) holding a transparent original are placed on an original table (23), and the navigation sheet (24) is read first to recognize the content thereof. Next, a scanner carriage unit (22) is moved so that the transparent original being held by the film guide (25) is read in based upon the result of recognition of the navigation sheet (24). Since a method of reading the transparent original can be designated using the navigation sheet, it is easier to perform the reading of a transparent original using a stand-alone image reading apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20050179960
Abstract: Images obtained by prescanning a transparent original by an image reading apparatus are output from a printing apparatus as a navigation sheet on which the images are laid out together with additional information fields. The navigation sheet containing additional information is read, and the additional information is recognized. The transparent original which is left after prescanning is scanned, and printing is performed on the basis of the recognized additional information. This makes it possible to print out a desired image under desired conditions from the transparent original, in which a plurality of images are recorded, by operating a single apparatus without any external device such as a host computer.

  • Publication number: 20050157354
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus which can read a transparent original and reflection original, a white background is formed like a sheet. The image reading apparatus is arranged to be movable by a pair of rollers which rotate using, e.g., the driving source of an original feeder. To read a transparent original, the white sheet is moved by the pair of rollers to a position where a transparent original reading illumination unit is exposed. This makes it possible to eliminate trouble in detaching the white background mounted on the back of an original platen in accordance with the type of an original to be read.

  • Publication number: 20050157353
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus that can read a reflection original and transparent original, a film holder for holding the transparent original is provided to be pivotal to the left or right about a shaft as the center. After the transparent original is set such that its image can be seen correctly, when the film holder is brought down to the right, the film can be set correctly concerning its upper and lower sides. At this time, as the film holder is held by the reading apparatus, its positional shift can also be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20050115304
Abstract: An impact-resistant apparatus includes support members for supporting the apparatus on a surface, an impact sensor for sensing an impact, and means for aborting a predetermined operation based on an output from the impact sensor. In this apparatus, a protruding member protruding downward from a plane in contact with lower ends of the respective support members is provided at a position wherein impact from the protruding member caused by a fall of the apparatus is transmitted to the impact sensor so that the predetermined operation is aborted effectively.

  • Publication number: 20050056395
Abstract: A unit sand mold is produced within a mold making chamber in the casting line. The unit sand mold has cavities on the front and rear faces in the line direction. A plurality of unit sand molds thus produced are connected by joining the front face of one unit sand mold to the rear face of the preceding unit sand mold to form a train of connected sand molds. Molten aluminum or aluminum alloy is injected into the cavity through an injection port provided at the boundary between the joined faces. The train of connected sand molds is then divided by cutting at a substantially central portion of each unit sand mold or of every nth unit sand mold (n is an integer of two or more) and the unit sand mold(s) is/are dipped in water to be cooled. The sand mold is then dismantled, and sand thus obtained is dried and supplied to the mold making chamber for reuse.

  • Patent number: 6805505
Abstract: In a personal computer, preferably a lap-top-type personal computer, first latch members (or sections) and second latch members (or sections) are provided on a bezel surrounding a periphery of a keyboard. The first and second latch members serve to support one side of the keyboard. By having a bottom surface of the second latch members made a sloping surface, when a user pushes the keyboard upward with a finger from below the keyboard slides backward at a slope without interfering with the first latch members. As such, the front part of the keyboard is released from the latching by the first latch members and the second latch members and can be easily and simply removed.

  • Patent number: 6589459
Abstract: A lead-free super-highly conductive plastic is formed of a conductive resin composition which includes a thermoplastic resin, a lead-free solder that melts during plasticization, and metal powder or a mixture of metal powder and metal short fibers that promotes the fine dispersion of particles of the lead-free solder within the thermoplastic resin. In the lead-free super-highly conductive plastic, since particles of the lead-free solder are connected with each other via solder melted within the plastic, the particles of the lead-free solder are mutually joined, so that high conductivity is attained.
