  • Patent number: 8784973
Abstract: A resin bonding method according to the present invention is a resin bonding method for bonding a first resin and a second resin including (I) a step of irradiating spaces containing oxygen molecules with vacuum ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 175 nm or less, the spaces being in contact with surfaces of the first and second resins; and (II) a step of, after the irradiation, subjecting the surfaces to temperature rise while the surfaces are in contact with each other, to bond the first resin and the second resin together with the surfaces serving as bonding surfaces. In the step (I), the surfaces of the first and second resins may be further irradiated with the vacuum ultraviolet light. In this case, a light amount of the vacuum ultraviolet light having reached the surfaces is preferably, for example, 0.1 J/cm2 or more and 10 J/cm2 or less.

  • Patent number: 7553392
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device in which liquid crystal is sealed between substrates using a one drop fill method. Dropping of liquid crystal is controlled so that the dropping quantity of the liquid crystal is reduced in an area including the vicinity of a seal material on a side with a relatively narrow cell gap width while the dropping quantity of the liquid crystal is increased in an area including the vicinity of the seal material on a side with a relatively broad cell gap width. Alternatively, dropping of the liquid crystal is controlled so that the number of times the liquid crystal is dropped is reduced in the area including the vicinity of the seal material on one side while the number of times the liquid crystal is dropped is increased in the area including the vicinity of the seal material on another side without changing the dropping quantity of one drop.

  • Patent number: 7480027
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device by sealing liquid crystals between the substrates relying upon a drop-injection method making it easy to determine a suitable dropping amount of the liquid crystals. The method comprises forming pillar spacers for maintaining a cell thickness on a CF substrate, measuring the height of the pillar spacers, determining the dropping amount of the liquid crystals based on the number of times of executing a step of forming an alignment film again effected for the CF substrate after measuring the height of the pillar spacers, dropping the liquid crystals in the determined dropping amount onto the CF substrate or onto a TFT substrate, sticking the CF substrate and the TFT substrates together in vacuum, and returning the pressure back to the atmospheric pressure to inject the liquid crystals into between the two substrates.

  • Patent number: 7316750
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display utilizing the dispense-injection method, and it is an object of the invention to provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display which allows an optimum quantity of liquid crystals to be dispensed on each substrate. At a dispense-injection step, in the case of a two-shot process for fabricating two liquid crystal display panels from a single glass substrate 80, the heights of support posts on two CF substrates 82 (let us call them surfaces A and B) having columnar spacers formed thereon are measured at a plurality of points (e.g., five locations indicated by numerals 1 through 5) on each of the surfaces A and B using a laser displacement gauge and an average value of the height is obtained. The support post height of the columnar spacers is thus measured in advance to control the quantity of dispensed liquid crystals based on the measured value.

  • Patent number: 7202933
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal inserted between first and second substrates and surrounded by a peripheral seal. The liquid crystal is dripped onto the first substrate in an area defined by the seal of the first substrate. The first substrate and the second substrate are joined or bonded together under pressure in a vacuum chamber. The chamber is then exposed to the atmosphere while keeping the first substrate and the second substrate under pressure. The pressure is then released and thereafter light is irradiated onto the peripheral seal. The vacuum chamber includes upper and lower surface plates to support the substrates. The surface plate includes an electrostatic chuck and a vacuum attraction passage provided in the chuck.
