    Abstract: A by-pass diode includes a first lead plate and a second lead plate respectively arranged on the top face and the bottom face of a rectifier laminate and extending therefrom in opposite directions in parallel relation to each other. The first lead plates is made thinner than the second lead plate. The first lead plate includes a rectangular body portion and a head portion extending from one end face of the rectangular body portion and connected to the rectifier laminate. The head portion further includes a reduced neck portion. The first lead plate has slits in the zone adjacent the head and neck portions connected to the rectifier laminate, the slits being notched deeply width-wise, alternately from each longitudinal side of the rectangular body portion. The by-pass diode is incorporated into a terminal housing for solar battery modules. In such a terminal housing, the link portions connecting the rectifier laminate to the lead plates are prevented from delamination, even under severe use conditions.

A plurality of solar cell modules having solar cells embedded in a building material are installed on a base board. A positive cable and a negative cable extend from the solar cell module. A first connector is connected to a an end of one cable. A second connector is connected to an end of the other cable. The first connector and the second connector have a flat outer configuration and are connected to each other, with a thickness direction of the first connector and that of the second connector substantially coincident with each other. Each of the first connector and the second connector is connected to the respective flat cable with a thickness direction of the connector substantially coincident with that of the flat cable.

    Abstract: An improved method and structure for connecting a prescribed number of solar battery modules in series. Corresponding electrical connectors are attached to the terminal ends of cables extending from each solar battery module in the system and to the ends of relay cables that are joined in series to form a relay cable assembly. The relay cable assembly is thus able to provide a sequential series of connector pairs whose number equals the number of solar battery modules to be connected. The series joined relay cables in the relay cable assembly are connected to the output cables of each solar battery module in the system, thus providing an improved method of connecting a prescribed number of solar battery modules in series.

When either of the sensors detects the lack of staple or cover, a feasible treating mode other than the unfeasible treating mode due to the lack of staple or cover in the treating mode memorized in the memory is executed prior to the unfeasible treating mode.

The bins are vertically movable pitch by pitch, and a large-capacity tray is provided above the bins. A sheet conveyer gate which has rollers, is vertically movable between the bins and the tray. When the sheet conveyer gate is in a lowered position, the rollers take a stapled stack of sheets out of a bin. Then, the sheet conveyer gate is raised and takes the stack of sheets into the large-capacity tray.

    Abstract: A finisher connected to a digital copying machine includes a folding device for folding output paper into Z shape, a binding device for binding a sheaf of the papers into a preset size, and a control unit that determines whether image property will be affected or not when the images are printed on the A4 size paper, and print on the A3 size paper and fold the A3 paper into the Z-shape if it is determined that the property will be affected. Therefore, even if the original document size is different from the exclusive use cover size, the finisher provides good legibility of the characters printing its output automatically on paper of a proper size matching the exclusive use cover. In other words, good-looking bookbinding can be easily accomplished for documents of varying sizes without manually adjusting enlargement/reduction factors.

    Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to make good self-repair on which little secondary effect is exerted by calculating a manipulated variable of a parameter at the time of the repair by a functional amount in an image forming apparatus having a self-repair function. When a fault occurs, control-type repair for operating a physical parameter is first made. In this repair, the physical parameter to be operated is searched for (n3). If the physical parameter to be operated is determined, a manipulated variable of the physical parameter is then calculated by a functional amount (n4). The manipulated variable of the parameter by the functional amount is determined by adjusting the degree to which a plurality of functions are developed. Therefore, a manipulated variable in which the development of the functions is most preferable as the entire apparatus is determined. If the fault cannot be repaired by the control type repair, functional redundancy type repair is made (n6, n7, n8, n9).

The qualitative control sequence is a state transition matrix following the time sequence. This qualitative control sequence is derived by making use of a qualitative inference system. A quantitative control sequence is obtained by adding quantitative time between states to the qualitative control sequence. Time information is calculated on the basis of design information of a machine portion stored in a design information database. As a result, it is possible to reduce the manual burden on the software development by using the present invention.
