Abstract: The refrigerator has a reader/writer for writing information in and reading information from a contactless memory medium, an information holding device for storing information read by the reader/writer, and an information display device for displaying the information stored by the information holding device. As a result of the invention of the refrigerator, the number of items such as foods that can be unconsumed and discarded because of the arrival of their consume-by dates is reduced in a refrigerator, and items such as foods stored in the refrigerator can be confirmed without opening the door.

Abstract: A browser apparatus, a server apparatus, a computer-readable medium, a search system and a search method are provided which enable a user to readily execute a search on a network particularly even if the user is a computer illiterate. In other words, for instance, the browser apparatus, the server apparatus, the computer-readable medium, the search system and the search method of the present invention perform as follows: searching sites and/or pages on the network; obtaining the values of access counters in sites and/or pages found in the search; and arranging the sites and/or the pages found in the search in accordance with the obtained access counter values so that the site or the page having the larger access counter value is ranked higher, and for outputting the information on the arrangement of the sites and/or pages as the result of the search.

Abstract: A system and method for introducing a medical facility to a patient is provided so as to select an appropriate medical treatment specialty for a given patient who needs some medical treatment and notify the patient. The medical facility introduction system is comprised of a host computer 10 that has storage means for storing information about the medical facilities and personal information about the users and communication means, storage media 23, 21 for storing the information for accessing the host computer and personal information about the users, communication terminals 21, 22 for providing access to the host computer, and display means and input means connected to the communication terminals 21, 22. This medical facility introduction system is characterized in that a communication terminal establishes communication with the host computer 10, an appropriate medical facility is selected, and that result is sent to communication terminal.

Abstract: An automatic fare adjustment system is provided for train systems for which more than on service provider operates trains. It is possible to prevent illegal use of a memory device. The memory device 10 stores ID information and information about settling methods, fare imposition, free transportation sections that are covered by commuter passes, coupon tickets, etc, and travel history. A transmitter 20 at an automatic ticket gate for boarding 1 sends information about the boarding station to the memory device 10. Onboard a train, information about an intermediate station is sent from an onboard transmitter 30 to the memory device 10. A fare imposing unit 40 at an automatic ticket gate for detraining 4 carries out fare imposition processing based on the above-described information and information about boarding and intermediate stations.

Abstract: The present invention provides a lock with an authenticated open and set function, by which the lock may be opened without any bothersome operation for inserting a key to open the lock. An IC card 3 sends user identification information stored in a memory 34 to an authenticated open and set function unit 1. The authenticated open and set function unit 1 sends the user identification information to a collator 15 under the control of a controller 11 on reception of it. The collator 15 collates the user identification information sent from the IC card 3 with that stored in a memory 16. When both of the user identification information are coincided with each other, the collator 15 sends the collation signal, which is indicative of the user being authenticated, to the controller 11. The controller 11 gives a controller 17 a command to open a lock installed in a door 2. The controller 17 opens the lock based on the command by the controller 11.
