  • Patent number: 6026486
Abstract: A 32-bit processor control unit receives from a memory an instruction. The control unit then determines whether the received instruction is intended for a 32-bit processor or for a 16-bit processor. If the received instruction is analyzed to be a 32-bit processor instruction, the control unit controls the 32-bit processor with the aid of two 16-bit instruction control units. If the received instruction is a 16-bit processor instruction, the 32-bit processor control unit sends a 16-bit processor mode signal to each of the 16-bit instruction control units. One of the two 16-bit instruction control units controls one of two 16-bit processors which are divisions of the 32-bit processor while the other 16-bit instruction control unit controls the other 16-bit processor. The present invention makes it possible to have a single, wide bitwidth processor serve as a plurality of narrow bitwidth processors depending upon the type of processing.

  • Patent number: 5566338
Abstract: According to the present invention, during the execution of a series of processes in an ordinary program, if a process being executed is suspended by the interrupt of another process, it is judged, upon completion of the execution of the interrupt process, whether a return to the above suspended process in the ordinary program is to be made or a branch return to another process is to be made, depending on the result of the interrupt process. Consequently, if the resumption of the suspended process in the ordinary program becomes no more necessary depending on the result of the interrupt process, another required process can be initiated immediately without resuming the unnecessary process.

  • Patent number: 5546327
Abstract: The zenithal angle of a spherical surface is divided at regular intervals, the horizontal angle thereof is also divided at regular intervals in correspondence with each of the zenithal angles, and in addition, the intensity of each energy line emitted from the center of the bottom surface of the spherical surface at the divided zenithal and horizontal angles corresponds to each zenithal angle. Thus, the energy lines can be isotropically emitted from the center of the bottom surface the spherical surface. The emitted energy lines are traced from the center to each object surface and the intensity of each energy line which has reached each object surface are added to each other. Then, the intensity obtained by the addition is divided by the intensity of entire energy lines emitted from the center. Thus, the geometrical view factor of each object surface can be found quickly and accurately.

  • Patent number: 5467401
Abstract: The present invention discloses a sound environment simulator including a sound field analyzing unit, a sound field reproducing unit, and an output unit. The sound environment analyzing unit divides the solid surfaces of a space to be analyzed into a set of sections to compute the volume of reflected sounds with a sound absorption coefficient of walls and form factors. It further computes time series data related to the arrival volume of sounds emanated from a certain sound source to the sound receiving point. An impulse response computing unit in the sound field reproducing unit transduces the time series data into an impulse response. Accordingly, the sound field reproducing unit convolutes the impulse response on a dry source in accordance with data related to a listener's position inputted from an associated virtual reality equipment to generate a reproduced sound over a headphone.

  • Patent number: 5432726
Abstract: Two sets of input data A and B are provided. A first selector circuit outputs either the most significant bit of the input data B or the inversion thereof, in accordance with a control signal which has been sent thereto through a control line. An adder adds 1 to the least significant bit of the input data B, and also adds the output from the first selector circuit to all the other bits thereof. A zero-judgment circuit judges whether the input data B is 0 or not, and then, if it is 0, sets a flag to a predetermined value. A selector-control circuit allows a second selector circuit to select the input data B in the case where the least significant bit of the input data A is 1 or the flag from the zero-judgment circuit is set to the predetermined value, and to select, in the other cases, the output from the adder.

  • Patent number: 5422717
Abstract: In a method of analyzing a lighting environment, the lighting environment is initially divided into a plurality of blocks so that all surfaces defining said lighting environment may be divided into a plurality of surface patches. The surface patch that radiates the most light energy is then searched. If the quantity of light radiated from this surface patch exceeds a given value, the quantity of light radiated from this surface patch which arrives at each of said plurality of surface patches is computed. Thereafter, the surface patch that radiates the next most light energy is searched, and the quantity of light radiated from this surface patch which arrives at each surface patch is computed. In this way, the total quantity of light received by each surface patch is obtained. In this method, mirror reflection is taken into account.
