  • Patent number: 6584234
Abstract: An image processing apparatus capable of extracting widely viewed features of an entire image and speedily performing image processing, and a method and an information recording medium for such processing. Image data of an original image is obtained by imaging the entire original image with an image pickup unit at a time. An amplitude distribution of a signal is obtained from the image data by fast Fourier transform performed by a fast Fourier transform section of a signal processing unit. An amplitude replacement section replaces the amplitude distribution with a predetermined function using the distance from a center of a frequency plane as a parameter. An inverse fast Fourier transform section forms an image corresponding to the original image by inverse fast Fourier transform from a phase distribution of points obtained by the fast Fourier transform and from an amplitude distribution obtained by the above-described replacement.

  • Publication number: 20030088871
Abstract: An unbroadcast program is recommended to a user. A server is supplied with degree of preference data as indices of the taste of users for programs from user terminals, and calculates, based on this, correlations of the preference tendencies for the programs of other users using a service. The user terminal displays an electronic program table transmitted from the server, and when a reservation to view or record is input from the user, reservation information is transmitted to the server. The server calculates predicted values of degrees of preference of the respective users for programs to be broadcast in the future on the basis of the correlations of the degrees of preference and the reservation information, and transmits them to the respective user terminals. The user terminal refers to the degree of preference predicted values of the broadcast scheduled programs, and prepares a list of programs to be recommended to the user.

  • Patent number: 6515945
Abstract: Locking claw engages a recording medium to be transferred, and a determination is made as to which of a plurality of predetermined points a current position of the locking member corresponds to. Current position of the recording medium can be determined indirectly on the basis of the thus-determined predetermined point corresponding to the current position of the locking member. If any recording medium is not properly settled in a predetermined rest position at power-ON, then the recording medium is automatically transferred to be settled in the predetermined rest position. Simplified detection of the position of the locking claw is made in absolute or quasi-absolute form, by a picker position detector unit that is provided in association with a rotating drive shaft of the locking member and employs a simply-constructed mechanism capable of generating detection pulses responsive to predetermined rotational angles of two shafts rotating at different rates.

  • Patent number: 6409965
Abstract: An ingot is made from a used target of 30 weight % or more, and new metals of the same components, and recycled alloy powder is made by a gas atomizing process. Magnetic permeability is controlled not to exceed 2 by adjusting the content of rare earth metals in rare earth alloy powder to be at least 35 weight %. By blending the recycled alloy powder with other powder to produce alloy powder containing at least 50 weight % of rare earth alloy powder having a magnetic permeability not higher than 2 and containing at least 65 weight % of rare earth alloy powder. By sintering the alloy powder under pressure and thereafter cutting top, bottom and side surfaces of the sintered material, a target having a magnetic permeability not higher than 2 and having a thickness not less than 8 mm is fabricated.

  • Patent number: 6334388
Abstract: A stencil printer includes a hollow cylindrical, porous ink drum freely rotatable. A multistage paper feeding device includes a plurality of paper stacking portions and capable of feeding papers of particular size from each paper stacking portion. At least one pair of side fences are mounted on each paper stocking portion for positioning the papers in the widthwise direction of the papers. A rack is positioned to stack the papers or printings each carrying a printed image thereon. An ink drum shifting device shifts the ink drum in the widthwise direction of the papers perpendicular to the direction of conveyance of the papers. A rack shifting device shifts the rack in the widthwise direction of the papers. A storing device stores the position of a center line of a paper transport path for each of the paper stocking portions.

  • Publication number: 20010022770
Abstract: Information to be stored is input to a plurality of information carrier storage means that interact with each other. A unit amount of information carriers is added to a position selected from the information carrier storage means, and nonlinear diffusion of information carriers is executed from the selected information carrier storage means to its neighboring information carrier storage means, and at the same time, nonlinear dissipation is executed from the information carrier storage means. At that time, the dissipation amount is determined so that the amount adding the difference between the amount of addition and the amount of dissipation to the input representation does not exceed a predetermined threshold value. When equilibrium is confirmed as a result of judgement whether changes in amount of information carriers of each information carrier storage means has become small or not, the amount of information carriers stored in the information carrier storage means is output as a numerical value.

  • Patent number: 5882005
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a large capacity paper feeder has a single pick-up roller capable of selectively feeding papers from an LCT (Large Capacity Table) or from a cassette removably mounted to the apparatus. The paper feeder, therefore, does not need a bulky paper feed unit for a cassette feed mode. In addition, a space for an LCT feed mode is not necessary above the pick-up roller, so that the height of the apparatus is not increased.

  • Patent number: 5799389
Abstract: A head chip of a magnetic head is produced by a method in which magnetic core half blocks, each having plural track width delimiting grooves on its major surface and having a magnetic metal film of a soft magnetic metal material formed on the major surface, are abutted to each other with a gap material in-between to form a magnetic head block which is then sliced to give plural head chips for the magnetic head. Each track width delimiting groove is polygonally-shaped in cross-section and has at least two bends. This enables suppression of cracks of exfoliation of the magnetic metal film otherwise caused in the magnetic core during its fabrication to improve product yield and operational reliability.

  • Patent number: 5768036
Abstract: A device including a polarizing beam splitter by which an incident luminous flux is split into a first luminous flux radiated onto a first photo sensor and a second luminous flux radiated onto a second photo sensor, and an adjusting mechanism provided for rotatably adjusting a position of one of the first and second luminous fluxes. The optical axis of the first luminous flux is coincident with that of the incident luminous flux. The optical axis of the second luminous flux is not parallel to the first luminous flux. By rotating the beam splitter about the optical axis of the first luminous flux, the beam receiving position of the second photo sensor, onto which the second luminous flux is radiated, is changed.

  • Patent number: 5764450
Abstract: A magnetic head in which a pair of magnetic core halves each having a winding slot for placing a coil are abutted and unified to each other by thin magnetic metal films interposed in-between, and in which a magnetic gap is formed between abutting surfaces of the magnetic core halves. A bend is formed in the winding slot for bending the thin magnetic metal film at an acute angle when seen in cross-section. The magnetic head has a structure for prohibiting peeling of the thin magnetic metal film.
