  • Patent number: 5559639
Abstract: A device including a polarizing beam splitter by which an incident luminous flux is split into a first luminous flux radiated onto a first photo sensor and a second luminous flux radiated onto a second photo sensor, and an adjusting mechanism provided for adjusting a position of one of the first and second luminous fluxes. The optical axis of the first luminous flux is coincident with that of the incident luminous flux. The optical axis of the second luminous flux is not parallel to the first luminous flux. By moving the beam splitter along the optical axis of the first luminous flux, the beam receiving position of the second photo sensor, onto which the second luminous flux is radiated, is changed.

  • Patent number: 5475957
Abstract: A building has a ventilating space between its inner and outer exterior walls which is capable of effectively saving energy. The building's body has an inner exterior wall on which an outer wall is supported by means of supporting members to form a ventilating space therebetween. The space may also be used for accommodating piping and wiring for connecting main equipment installed on the rooftop of the building with respective terminal devices installed in separate rooms of the building. An air inlet is formed in the lower portion of the new exterior wall, e.g., in the head casing for a second story window, and an air outlet is formed between the inner coping and the outer coping. The outside air enters through the air inlet into the space between the outer and inner walls and flows out therefrom through the air outlet. In summer, such ventilation prevents heat from getting into the rooms of the building via the walls.

  • Patent number: 5187009
Abstract: There is provided a rubber/plastic insulated power cable or a joint of power cables which comprises a conductor or a conductor joint having an inner semiconductor layer and an insulation layer, and if necessary, an outer semiconductor layer, formed thereon in the order named, at least one of these layers being formed of a crosslinked structure of an olefin resin composition containing an olefin resin, an organic peroxide, and 2,4-diphenyl-4-methyl-1-pentene. The 2,4-diphenyl-4-methyl-1-pentene serves to inhibit "amber" of the olefin resin composition by the organic peroxide used and to increase the degree of crosslinking of crosslinked structure. Also, the olefin resin with a high melting point can be used as a base resin. Therefore, the resultant power cable and joint have highly improved AC breakdown strength, impulse breakdown strength at a high temperature and much less generation of electrical trees due to "amber", so that they are useful particularly high-voltage application.

  • Patent number: 4972728
Abstract: A device for measuring torque in a shaft without contacting the latter. A torque transmitting shaft is formed with at least one detecting magnetically anisotropic region inclined to form an angle with respect to the axis of rotation of this shaft. A detecting coil is disposed on the periphery of the detecting magnetically anisotropic region. When the detecting voltage for the detecting coil changes owing to temperature changes and time-dependent changes, the changes in the detection sensitivity and in the zero point take place, leading to errors during torque measurement. Correct measured values can be obtained by having a device for correcting such changes in sensitivity and zero point.
