  • Patent number: 8047502
Abstract: To overcome problems concerning the sticking of the check plate in a combined check and control valve, a stop is provided on the valve rod or a guide element in the vicinity of the valve rod, whose distance to the limiting element is smaller than the maximum stroke and larger than the nominal stroke of the limiting element. Thus, it is achieved that the check plate is released from the valve seat by means of the stop, when the valve rod is displaced to the maximum.

  • Patent number: 6817173
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are described for the simultaneous adjustment of an air intake stream 24 of an internal combustion engine 10 and of a secondary air stream 21 into the exhaust system 12 of the internal combustion engine, the secondary air stream being produced by a compressor 20 which is driven by a turbine 18. The turbine 18 is housed in a bypass duct 16, the bypass duct being arranged parallel to a throttle valve 14 in the air intake tract 11 of the internal combustion engine. Thus the required amount of secondary air 21 is dependent upon the throttle valve setting. To create compensation for this, a control valve 32, for example, is created, which is connected through a connecting duct 4 to the secondary air duct 22.

  • Patent number: 6655348
Abstract: A duct system suitable for use as an intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, including flap valves (13) for selective opening and closing of the ducts. The positions of the valves are continuously adjustable in order to produce a swirl in the flow of combustion air. To achieve this, a high degree of angular precision is required in the positioning of the valves. Intake manifold manufacturing tolerances need to be compensated during assembly of the valves. A valve adjusting mechanism is provided in mechanical couplings (23) of the valve linkage between the position adjusting motor (19) and the flap valves (13).

  • Publication number: 20030167751
Abstract: Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a device for simultaneous regulation of an intake air flow (24) of an internal combustion engine (10) and a secondary air flow (21) in the exhaust system (12) of the internal combustion engine, wherein the secondary air flow is produced by a compressor (20) powered by a tutbine (18). The turbine (18) is mounted in a bypass (16), wherein said bypass is disposed parallel to a throttle valve (14) in the intake tract (11) of the internal combustion engine. The amount (21) of secondary air supplied thereby depends on the position of the throttle valve. In order to provide compensation therefor, a regulating valve (32) is provided, which is connected to the secondary air line (22) by means of a connecting line (34).

  • Patent number: 6591805
Abstract: A duct system, especially an intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, having flap valves (13) for selective opening and closing of at least some of the ducts. The valves should be continuously adjustable in position in order to produce a swirl in the combustion airflow. To achieve this a high degree of angular precision is required in the positioning of the valves. Intake manifold manufacturing tolerances need to be compensated during assembly of the valves. Valve adjusting mechanisms are provided on the axles of the valves or in the mechanical connections of the valve gear pertaining to the valve drive mechanism.
