Abstract: A client device is operated by obtaining a list of contacts, wherein the list of contacts includes contact information of authorized users, recording media content, defining a selected recipient of the media content, and transmitting the media content and contact information of the selected recipient to a media repository system to enable the media repository system to compare an identification of a user requesting access to the media content from the media repository system with the contact information of the selected recipient and to enable a communication device of the user to access the media content from the media repository system responsive to a determination that the contact information of the selected recipient matches the identification of the user. The media content includes audio, video, and/or image content.

Abstract: A system for adaptively controlling traffic control devices having a traffic signal system, a computing network, a communication system, and a mobile device. The traffic signal system is configured to be in communication with the computing network through the communication system. The mobile device is also configured to be in communication with the computing network through the communication system. Then the computing network adaptively controls the traffic signal system using a location of the mobile device.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a switch. The switch includes a network-virtualization module, an update module, an acknowledgment module, and an election module. During operation, the network-virtualization module establishes a forwarding segment for an end device multi-homed with the switch and a second switch. The forwarding segment can be identified by a segment identifier persistent in the switch and the second switch. The update module constructs, for the second switch, a first route update message comprising an indicator value for the forwarding segment. The acknowledgment determines the indictor value in a second route update message from the second switch as an acknowledgment for the first route update message. If the switch receives the acknowledgment from a respective switch participating in the forwarding segment, the election module initiates a designated forwarder election for the forwarding segment.

Abstract: Techniques for reducing the latency in performing a failover from a protected connection to its backup connection when a network event is detected affecting the protected connection. In an MPLS network, techniques are provided for failing a protected LSP to a backup LSP in a fast and efficient manner. In one embodiment, the faster failover is facilitated by storing protected LSPs and their backup LSPs information in the data plane, such as locally on a linecard.
