  • Patent number: 7519368
Abstract: In a communication system, a mobile station (MS) sends a target base station (BS) a notification indicating that it is to perform a handover from a serving BS to the target BS. The target BS transmits to the MS handover process optimization information indicating a possibility of omitting at least one process required by the MS to perform a network re-entry operation with the target BS according to the handover notification from the MS. The MS receives the handover process optimization information and performs a network re-entry operation with the target BS according to the handover process optimization information.

  • Patent number: 7440435
Abstract: A divided Media Access Control (MAC) protocol structure, a data transmission and reception method, and a handover method and system using the structure in a wireless communication system for efficiently managing session information in handover of an MSS (Mobile Subscriber Station). In the MAC protocol structure, a MAC is divided into a MAC-high layer and a MAC-low layer. The MAC-high layer performs session information-related functions and the MAC-low layer performs functions sensitive to a time delay in relation to handover of an MSS. In the handover method, when an MSS in the wireless communication system performs handover between Access Points (APs), session information is managed at a fixed position by an Access Point Controller (APC) including an MAC-high layer or a serving AP. Therefore, the system load can be reduced and communication quality can be improved.

  • Patent number: 7333463
Abstract: A method for allocating a safety channel to a handover subscriber station (SS) for data communication in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) communication system. In the method, a base station (BS) determines a bin offset indicating a safety channel to be allocated to the handover SS and the number of subchannels every frame, generates a MAP information element (IE) with a set indicator indicating allocation of the safety channel, the MAP IE including SS identifier information indicating the handover SS, information on the determined bin offset and information on the determined number of subchannels, and transmits the generated MAP IE at a MAP IE transmission time in the frame. The handover SS receives the MAP IE from the BS every frame, and transmits/receives data for a predetermined number of frames in the allocated safety channel according to the MAP IE.

  • Patent number: 7330487
Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting a variety of service types in a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO mobile telecommunication system for high-speed data service in a radio communication environment. To receive multiple services according to a plurality of service types, an AT establishes a connection for the data service with a PDSN and configures a session for setting the plurality of service types having different traffic characteristics by the connection. The AT generates a plurality of service instances for the different service types according to the session configuration. It then exchanges data streams with the PDSN in a service instance corresponding to a currently provided service among the plurality of service instances.
