Abstract: A method for transmitting burst allocation information by a base station in a broadband wireless communication system in which a transmitted frame includes symbols, and orthogonal subcarriers in a frequency axis constitute each of the symbols based on a predetermined time unit. The method includes the steps of generating a reduced connection identifier (CID) by reducing a basic CID of a mobile terminal connected to the base station when the basic CID exists within a preset range, and inserting an MAP, which includes an enabled field representing the reduced CID and one of use and non-use of the reduced CID, into the frame, and transmitting the frame to the mobile terminal.

  • Publication number: 20050202822
Abstract: A method for allocating a safety channel to a handover subscriber station (SS) for data communication in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) communication system. In the method, a base station (BS) determines a bin offset indicating a safety channel to be allocated to the handover SS and the number of subchannels every frame, generates a MAP information element (IE) with a set indicator indicating allocation of the safety channel, the MAP IE including SS identifier information indicating the handover SS, information on the determined bin offset and information on the determined number of subchannels, and transmits the generated MAP IE at a MAP IE transmission time in the frame. The handover SS receives the MAP IE from the BS every frame, and transmits/receives data for a predetermined number of frames in the allocated safety channel according to the MAP IE.

  • Publication number: 20050201327
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for allocating a safety channel in a wireless communication system which divides a full frequency band into a plurality of subcarrier bands and includes subchannels, each of which is a set of a predetermined number of subbands, each of which is a set of a predetermined number of contiguous subcarriers, where the subchannels include a safety subchannel allocated to particular subscriber stations (SSs), which is unused in a neighbor base station. The method comprises the steps of: transmitting, by the SS, its channel quality information to the base station (BS) when a channel quality of a subchannel allocated to the SS is less than to predetermined reference channel quality; and allocating a safety subchannel to the SS, by the BS upon receiving the channel quality information indicating that the channel quality of the subchannel is less than to the reference channel quality.

  • Publication number: 20050195822
Abstract: A divided Media Access Control (MAC) protocol structure, a data transmission and reception method, and a handover method and system using the structure in a wireless communication system for efficiently managing session information in handover of an MSS (Mobile Subscriber Station). In the MAC protocol structure, a MAC is divided into a MAC-high layer and a MAC-low layer. The MAC-high layer performs session information-related functions and the MAC-low layer performs functions sensitive to a time delay in relation to handover of an MSS. In the handover method, when an MSS in the wireless communication system performs handover between Access Points (APs), session information is managed at a fixed position by an Access Point Controller (APC) including an MAC-high layer or a serving AP. Therefore, the system load can be reduced and communication quality can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20050188113
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting packet data to a hybrid mobile terminal upon inter-system handoff is provided. The terminal communicates with High Rate Pack Data (HRPD) and voice mobile networks. A Packet Control Function (PCF) system converts received data for transmission to the terminal into Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packet data, stores the GRE packet data combined with a GRE packet key in an active queue, transmits it to an access network, and stores packet data stored in the active queue in a dormant queue when receiving a link release message from the access network. The access network converts GRE packet data received from the PCF system into an Radio Link Protocol Data (RLP) packet, stores it in combination with a GRE packet sequence number, and transmits it to the terminal. When detecting air link loss with the terminal, the access network creates and transmits a link release message including a GRE packet sequence number that has not been transmitted to the terminal.

  • Publication number: 20050047399
Abstract: An apparatus and method for seamlessly providing voice and data services to a user through an access terminal in a mobile communication system including a heterogeneous service & mobility gateway (HSMG) for an interworking service between a circuit network and a packet network, and various access networks overlapping each other. The access terminal notifies the HSMG that a voice call is received, if the access terminal that accessed a packet network receives a voice call. The HSMG sends a direction request to a circuit network upon receiving the notification indicating that the voice call is received. The access terminal directs to the circuit network and registers a new location upon receiving the direction request. The HSMG sets up an incoming voice call to the access terminal after the registration of a new location.

  • Publication number: 20050002351
Abstract: A method for delivering a received frame packet, to be transmitted from a packet data service node to a mobile station in a dormant state by a packet control function in a mobile communication system capable of providing data service or Push-To-Talk (PTT) service to the mobile station, via a base station connected to the packet control function. The packet control function delivers the received packet data and paging data to the base station where the mobile station in the dormant state is located. The base station forms the received packet data into an SDB (Short Data Burst), includes the SDB in a DBM (Data Burst Message) message, and transmits the DBM message to the mobile station if an analysis result of the received paging data indicates that the mobile station in the dormant state has requested fast packet paging and the base station can currently provide the fast packet paging.

  • Publication number: 20050002345
Abstract: A method and system for rapidly processing a call when one of a plurality of user agents (UAs) in a dormant state makes a traffic transmission request in a wireless telecommunication system. The wireless telecommunication system includes an access network (AN) for simultaneously performing group communication with at least two UAs. When no data is generated for a predetermined time after a traffic channel has been set up in an active state, the traffic channel is released and the UA transitions to the dormant state based on a suspended mode. A slot cycle index value is set to a first slot cycle index value for a slot mode operation in the dormant state based on the suspended mode, and the AN is notified of the first slot cycle index value. A paging message is received according to a paging time adjusted by the AN using the first slot cycle index value.
