  • Publication number: 20140072195
Abstract: An automated reader for reading fluorescence in-situ hybridization signals includes one or more computer processors for receiving a digitized FISH image and executing the steps of converting colors within the image to a hue value, separately for each color extracting quantitative values to detect the presence of signals corresponding to spots and applying a plurality of algorithms to extract features from the signals to determine cell shapes and segment cells within the FISH image. After recombining the signals, the extracted features for the colors learning machines are used to classify the spots according to the color and separate merged signals of classified spots that are in close proximity to each other within the image. The classified spots are counted to determine relative frequency of colors and a report is generated providing the number of classified spots of each color.

  • Publication number: 20140064082
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is provided for congestion mitigation. In this method, a congestion level of data flows along a path is monitored relative to a threshold. Here, each data flow is associated with a flow identifier. Based on detection that the congestion level exceeds the threshold, the flow identifier of a number (e.g., one or more) of the data flows is changed to a different flow identifier. This change results in the number of the data flows redirected to a different path. In an alternate embodiment, another method is provided for congestion avoidance. In this method, a data flow transmitted along a single path is received, and the data flow is split into multiple micro data flows. A different flow identifier is then assigned to each micro data flow. This change results in the multiple micro data flows distributed along multiple different paths.

  • Patent number: 8614578
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to determining the attenuation of an electromagnetic signal passing through a conductive material. An antenna is provided and placed in relatively close proximity to the conductive material. An alternating current is passed through the antenna and the impedance of the antenna is measured. The attenuation is determined using the measured impedance. A single frequency measurement may be made, or multiple measurements using different frequencies may be made. Grouped parameters based on properties of the material and the frequency of the current are used to relate the coil impedance to the attenuation. A current frequency for which the ratio of the antenna's resistive part of the impedance to the angular frequency of the current is substantially insensitive to at least one of the parameters is preferred.
