    Abstract: Provided are a fingerprint recognition apparatus and method which are capable of protecting registered fingerprint data and recognizing a fingerprint more quickly and accurately. In the fingerprint recognition apparatus, a fingerprint image generator generates fingerprint image data of an input fingerprint, and a memory stores registration fingerprint data for authentication. In a registration mode, a fingerprint recognition processor transforms the fingerprint image data into the irreversible registration fingerprint data using a specific transformation scheme, and stores the transformed registration fingerprint data. In an authentication mode, the fingerprint recognition processor transforms the fingerprint image data into comparison fingerprint data using the specific transformation scheme, compares whether the comparison fingerprint data is identical to the registration fingerprint data, and controls the authentication process according to the comparison result.

The conductive bar is provided on the substrate and positioned on an outer side of the pixel electrode pads to electrically connect the pixel electrode pads. The conductive bar is provided so that a connection of the conductive bar with the pixel electrode pads may be cut off after the manufacturing.

    Abstract: Provided is a fingerprint matching method and apparatus using fingerprint minutiae and fingerprint binary images. The method includes: constructing a template fingerprint database by extracting minutiae information and a binary image of a first fingerprint image; and extracting minutiae information and a binary image of a second fingerprint image to be authenticated and performing authentication by aligning the extracted minutiae information and the binary image of the second fingerprint image with data in the template fingerprint database. Accordingly, the fingerprint matching using the fingerprint binary images is additionally performed, thereby reducing a false acceptance rate (FAR) compared to a conventional minutia-based fingerprint authentication method.
