    Abstract: Proposed is a food-waste disposal apparatus, in particular, including a transfer housing; a transfer screw rotatably mounted to an inside of the transfer housing, and transferring food waste, which is introduced into the transfer housing, in a frontward direction of the transfer housing while compressing the food waste; and a gap forming portion provided in a rear end portion of the transfer screw, and forming a wastewater discharging gap between a front surface thereof and a rear cross-section of the transfer housing to discharge wastewater coming out of the food waste. Thus, the gap forming portion is provided outside the transfer housing (i.e., outside the rear end portion) and adjustable forward and backward, thereby not only making it easy to adjust a wastewater discharging gap but also discharging the waste water smoothly as a wastewater outlet is oriented downward.

The lifting cover is movably received in the fixed cover and coupled to the lifting motor. The water ejection nozzle is installed at a lower end of the lifting cover and configured to eject water. The touch bar is at least partially received in the lifting cover and moves when in contact with a container placed below the water ejection nozzle. The detection sensor detects movement of the touch bar. The controller changes operation of the lifting motor when the detection sensor detects movement of the touch bar.

    Abstract: Features for high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) are described. The application of HIFU for ablating tissue may be monitored in real time by imaging bubbles generated during HIFU. A single transducer array may be used by fast switching between imaging and HIFU. For imaging, the array or portions thereof may be used in receive only mode to locate bubbles generated by the HIFU. The application of HIFU, such as location and/or intensity, may be adjusted based on information from the imaging of the bubbles. Physicians and/or others may use these systems and methods to monitor HIFU procedures in real-time for optimal ablation of target tissue with minimal damage to healthy tissue.
